CQC foreshadowing estructable space facilities?

Was watching the Xbox One release trailer again and the CQC arena battle that takes place.
Looks to have elements within the space station that can be targeted and destroyed.
Would be nice to see some aspect of this rolled over into the mission structure... maybe full blown attacks on a space station taking down key components while the defender rush to resupply resources to repair the damage.

I WANT MY ASTEROID BASES!!!

Sorry, that has just been stirring for a while.

What I really see out of this is the possibility of new modules to go on to outposts and additional "buildings" to fill in some space around the stations.

Yep...seems like an awful waste if these station modules won't find their way into the main game pretty soon. Maybe not the destructible aspects of them...at least not to begin with due to the complexity of having this implemented in a persistent world with instances. Making use of these different structures (I get the feeling that there might be more than what we have seen in just the trailer) to give the main game world more variation would be great though.

I don't see how FD would let us blow up stations. First because it would mean a single action in a single instance would have a paramount effect on the entire galaxy (one or few players could take down a station, really?). Secondly because the station official description tells us that even capital ships are no match against these stations. Further, the fact that things can be destroyed in an arena - presumably for the sake of the "sport" does not mean it could be in a real station. Finally what you saw in the trailer is just... a trailer... doesn't mean it will happen in the game.

well... they didn't blow up the station in the trailer just a bit of it... I've been hoping secretly for a while that at some point in the future you will be able to do assassination missions where you fly to someone's apartment in a station and open it to vacuum with your lasers from the outside. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to blow up a radar dish or two on an outpost, or a power relay on the outside of a station etc. I think it would an awesome addition to the game.

They could add mini-stations. Tiny asteroid huts, fuel dumps, munition dumps, habitation spheres etc.
Since they are so small and numerous we can spawn them in as targets/background for missions and their destruction won't have any catastrophic effect on the PU.
Give them subsystems (life support, solar panels etc.), some basic defences and they might make interesting mission objectives.

Apart from mission targets they also might help make the systems feel more lived in.

These could be instance based missions so they are one off cases located in asteroid fields or around planets.... there are small outposts not the large stations.

The same goes for large combat zones with the big carriers, we see a lot of trailers with 4/5 of these beasts but all we get is 1. Its not like there is a lot of rendering like other games with landscapes and stuff.

Rep for you sir, sounds like a very good idea. We shall have to wait and see if FD have something like this up their sleeves.
