Astronomy / Space Stargazing Live 2015

Just wondering if any of you are running events during Stargazing Live 2014 ?

You are so fortunate there in the UK to have such a program. I love the series.

It's good to get young people interested, it should be on weekly.
I think they should get more involved in the science and theory, make it a bit more in depth. This would be possible with a regular programme.

Can't wait for this tonight. I find Brian Cox an excellent presenter who can make complicated stuff understandable.

Sky+ed ready to watch after kids have gone to bed. :D

So, why do they stop after an hour only to continue for another 30 mins?
why not just have one long 90 min programme?

Yes they have done that since season 2 when Back to Earth first aired. Not sure why, different budget ? No idea.

Brian's lost some weight I see too.

Commander Chris Hadfield is the coolest guy ever (in my humble opinion)
I'll be surprised if he's not doing something on Space and Astronomy on US TV

He is indeed.... Space Oddity in space for starters... What a fantastic communicator...

I agreed with the stuff about NASA being stifled by Congress and by being risk-averse... I think Jim Lovell once said that 'spaceflight is not routine' and others in the Apollo program said that accepting a certain amount of risk was one of the things that enabled us to move forward.

Dara hasn't though :D

Mind you, he did get to go up in one of those weightless airplanes, which looks like a good laugh.

Totally. They call it the Vomit Comet.
I returned from a recent field trip where we observed a binary system similar to Alberio. It is in Canis Major, h3945. You might know it as 145 CmA or HIP35210A. Was using a 25" Obsession with TelVue Ethos and Nagler Eye pieces :)

Tarantula Nebula also looks fantastic. We observed that one last month. (NGC2070).
my favourite object is still HMSTG436 !

(Yes I know all those numbers from the top of my head) ;)
