Lembava Warning

I know it's been said over and over but, caution is well advised heading into Lembava in open.

Just had someone invite me to help hunt "juicy explorers" because I happened to be in a combat vessel.

It is apparently not enough to attack explorers who are 90% unarmed and possibly unshielded to ruin months of work, these prize winners had to hunt in a wing too.
I can't name names, and it bears repeating in this thread that we shouldn't, but Id love to.

Huh. Worth pulling the Vulture out of storage and taking her down there? I got nothing to do this morning...
Last I checked they were flying a vulture and an orca, but Ive seen clippers and a FDL out recently as well. Whether thats worth it is up to you I think.

That's the essence of having PvP enabled. Basically, you always have to expect this.
Sure, I get that with PvP you should always expect some danger, and I recognize certain people will always get a specific sadistic thrill from killing those they know cant defend themselves, but Im also within rights to warn everyone that they are there.

What is juicy about explorers? is that code for: we are crap at PvP, so would you like to join us amateurs in shooting something that doesn't scare us like armed sidewinders?
I think that's about the summary yes. "juicy" in this instance is euphemism for "non-threatening to us".

thats not pvp, its called griefing, anyway, they can lick my shiny behind in solo mode and then complain of all those solo players nahahahahaha *evillaugher*
I think this is the best solution, yes.

Its all about timing. I purposely went to Lembava at about 1200 UK time, the place was empty. If you go in the evening your are more likely to come across some Yahoos. I have been doing some combat in my Python for PP so if anybody needs an escort just ask.

Thanks for the warning :)
My personal advice if you are a strong Open advocate and don't want to solo it in is to stop at a High tech station on the way in and loadout your ASP to bear with railguns and shield cell banks. It'd surprise these "players" somewhat when the harmless ASP suddenly turns around instead of running and attacks them.

You can also swap vessels to a combat one too before taking the trip or get an Escort wing in the thread that i've lost the link to somewhere... :)

Link in sig, my vulture is loaded up and ready to go, I also have the DBS on standby in case I need to go further out to pick you up, Id love to see regular wings of explorers coming in armed to the teeth save one explorer who's turning in their data.

I pride myself on playing in Open, but even I went solo going into Lembava.
Call it caution, or cowardice if you like. I call it being prudent and securing my time investment.
It's just prudent, if Cmdr who cant be named here thinks its hilarious to ruin months of work, then I think its hilarious to let them sit there alone and ruin their day in return.

hi guys - usually in the evenings UK time, there are loads of Cmdrs in Lembava, either doing the CG or doing PP. Or, indeed, both. My suggestion is: If you see people attacking others in a non-PP way (ie targeting non-pledged people) then circulate the Cmdr names on coms in the system and station if you can. There ought to be some Li-Yong pledged people around who are in ships capable of popping these folks, no bother. It is in their interests, in both a PP way and presumably from the Bounty angle.

That's like mugging an oap, why do people think it's acceptable?

I wonder how long before "because..game" comes up. Mammals learn behaviour from "games"...known FACT.

one word sums up my feelings towards (had a long thought about using the term "people") those types and it's... scum

I will NEVER be harrassed into solo/group by such players. I really recommend the escort service provided by Murishani, also, most of these "PVP'ers" usually fly tanked up slow beasts and then the occational Clipper and FDL, all of which use gimballed weapons to a ludicrous extent.
Solution? Chaff. And jump to a neighbouring system. The Diamondback scout may have weak shields, but it's fast, most likely fast enough to run away from these primates and survive for a next attempt.

I think the solution is just to "ride out to meet them". If a few wings of vultures and condas just roll out to guard the system and they actually have to fight for some kills they may reconsider.

Ah the benefits of doing my 100+ kylie trip in a fully defended combat vessel.

(But I will probably still return through the bubble in a group with my mates)

I have over the years played a great many PVP games, at least one where real progress can be swatted out at a moments notice. The thing is, if people want to roleplay psychotic commanders then that is their prerogative. It is not griefing, the player doesn't have mental issues, and they are not scum. They are just other players playing the game their way.

This is sad but what do you expect.

The one reason why I fly in solo for exploration (also, hi-res screens).
I mean, losing weeks of exploration for a few seconds of enjoyement for those players calling that 'PvP'
Thanks, but no thanks.

Boy, it's like an intergalactic kegger down there right now. Good news is, a lot of people are patrolling the area.

I was interdicted by a Clipper last night in Lembava, in my Asp. I submitted, put 4 pips to shield, triple boosted, and jumped to a neighbour system. Jumped back to Lembava. No clipper. Problem solved. It is irritating to do so, but perfectly doable. *note* I was interdicted because I am pledged, so it was not griefing, but the principle of escape is the same.
