Repair costs shot up

Whilst I am increasingly becoming a moaning old git around here, I would much rather a sensible increase to repair costs (which this seems to be from the repairs of my ships) than the completely bonkers integrity costs we had last week.

Some people don't lose more money to repairs than they make at combat.

Yep, just leave as soon as shields go red for example. At least as long we don't get charged for shield recharge ;)
FD is encouraging this sort of combat now. If someone play that way or go all in is up to the player of course but I only talk about the encouragement because of this change and that is not letting yourself (nearly) get blown to pieces.

It's not a change, it's a............? Bug.

I think this sort of play should be encouraged. It should be more chess than Call of Duty. Think twice, cut once.

Some people prefer taking on more difficult fights, and don't run when they're getting low on SCB charges.

I'm bounty hunting and taking assassination missions in a diamondback scout, all my fights are more difficult. Against the bigger targets if I get it wrong it's insurance screen, not repair costs.

I feel little sympathy for massive horribly be-weaponed battle cruisers who get their shields stripped before they can leg it, unlike me they don't get mass-locked.

That's how I lost my ship today. Against 2 Anacondas, 3 Pythons and some small fighters in a conflict zone - and I was alone, all of a sudden. Didn't want to flee, so I took up the fight - it was one of the shortest fights of my career. :>

Surely a simple model for repair costs would be a percentage of the insurance cost?, My Sidewinder last night lost 33% hull, but I got charged 12500 to repair, the insurance was only 29000 for a total loss! Not sure if today's update has fixed things though..

Out of interest I've just repaired my Power Plant (NPCs are targeting them now which is cool) - 85% damage show to cost 1 CR to fix (seriously?) Anyhow, look at what they really charged!!!

I'm not asking for your sympathy and no one here is. I earned my Python 2/3s through combat. Started fighting in an eagle, then viper etc.
Repair costs are out of wack. It's a bug. It will be fixed. It's a bug.

I think I've sussed out the repair screen - the column unit cost is the cost to repair 10% - with 10% being a unit and I can choose the number of units of repair I can do.

the Hull is the easies example to see- I need 27% to fix the hull back to 100% repaired (not integrity, this is already 100%), although the math of 2.7 * 129,957=345,483 not 333,064 as it wants to charge me (guessing its a rounding thing)
ho hum - at least that's answered the components not adding up to the total.

Have repaired everything except the hull - think the cost of a skirmish should cover all costs to allow progression and if this is all part of the bug then I'll leave it where it is for now - have lost far too much time and credits and combat XP the last 2 weeks and not going to lose out any more.

No whens the next combat CG?

A while back repair and fuel prices got dropped (as a result of forum bleating about cost) this resulted in a lot of forum bleating that they'd been dropped to far. Fuel has gone back up (but not to original levels) and repair has gone up (again not to original levels) and once again we've got forum bleating about the cost.

It's not a bug it's game balancing in progress, and the great wheel of the frontier forum keeps turning.

It is bug confirmed by FD. Look at the discussion

where this is clearly stated by Michael Brookes. Just the bug was not killed in today patch and we need to wait more.

No it really, really, really is a bug.

or is FD's opinion also invalid. And don't confuse feedback with 'bleating'.

Did is I mention it's a bug?

you have a particular style of play and chose to fly a particular type of ship. That's fine. Then when there's a bug that affects people who chose a differant style and a differant ship but doesn't affect you, you try to tell us we're playing the game wrong. You are the one bleating.

He doesn't say if its bugged too high or too low though, we'll have to wait and see what they actually intended. Again looks like game balancing/bug fixing in progress.

Finding anything other than bleating in this forum can be like panning for gold. I would mention power play, x-box and CQC but it could melt the interwebs.
