Do you have any supercruise habbits, ive been eating more and playing with my phone.

Hit hyperspace
Alt-tab.
Enter hyperspace after count down - throttle to 0.
Hear the BUMP on exit, back in game - orientate.
Alt-tab.

repeat and rinse.

Sounds negative (which it sort of is) but I totally LOVE this game.

Gotta say, distances put aside - this is the very first game I've played in 35years that I frequently let play itself due to being repeatedly presented with long streaks of plain and precise 0% gameplay value elements.
Repeated long SuperCruise trips I couldn't otherwise stand without somehow disabling my brain or giving it anything else to stimulate... And I mean anything...

If our spaceship was real we'd be able to look down at our between-the-knees monitor and read a book, watch a movie or play a game (Breakout, Chess, Pacman, Solitaire, whatever...), and our onboard navigational computer (which refuses to cooperate with the flight controls to become an autopilot) would start giving us an auditory alert so we know when to look up and correct our course & speed.

I've taken to staring at the screen like a drugged up vegetarian zombie. Sometimes I shake myself out of my stupor and start surfing the 'net, but even with a mini screen of the running game next to my browser I keep overshooting targets. It just means more time wasted as I have to turn around. One day I'm going to shoot right into a planet or star. At least far out from inhabited space we know when we can go AFK for a break and not have to keep checking for interdictions.

Depends on the distance to the target.

less than 1000 ls: Pick my nose, scratch my bum
less than 5000 ls: Check the forum
Up to 10,000ls: Check my wife and kids downstairs are ok and say "hi" (yep still there)
Up to 50,000ls: Make a nice cup of tea & maybe a snack
Hutton Orbital: Find a better job on the internet, build a new career, move onto the board of directors, and build it up into a large multi national. Wait for the sweet spot then float it on the market amid a positive media frenzy for the free advertising. Take the billions earned and blow the lot in Vegas on an onionhead & Lavian brandy fuelled blowout. Fly home, safe drop, dock.

Once you can move around your ship, I'm hoping for the ability to wander around, check systems, do some "crafting" perhaps installing a custom module that helps something in some way), playing poker with the crew, cooking bacon, tasing the slaves for amusement, and ultimately have to jog back to the cockpit when you get knocked sideways by an interdiction attempt...

Until that stuff has been implemented, most of the time in supercruise is spent not actually at my desk because setting your ship off in a direction and waiting for five minutes isn't a gameplay mechanic, and it's boring as hell.

If players alt-tab out of your game to enjoy something else whilst playing, then your game has a fundamental flaw

I always watch TV while I play elite, super cruise is the single most boring thing ever in a game.
I'm just happy I have a second monitor so I can watch TV!

Those Xbox plug n players won't know what's hit them when they first encounter super cruise.

They'll be like, eh, what, what's going on, what am I supposed to do, just sit here for how long?

Where's the off button.....

Lol

They will rage when they get no combat fix.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro laptop sitting right between my Warthog stick and throttle. Fits surprisingly well. The sound output from the laptop feeds into the mic input in my gaming PC that my headset is connected to, so I get the sound from both machines coming through one headset. Because the keyboard attached to my PC sits behind the laptop and therefore rather difficult to access, I run something called Synergy on both machines which allows me to use the keyboard & trackpad on the laptop to control the PC. Very handy. I use the laptop for browsing the web, watching YouTube/videos, listening to podcast, audiobooks etc while playing ED. Before I got the MacBook, I was using an iPad for the same purpose. The iPad makes for a great secondary display for entertainment when you're in SC and doesn't take up as much room. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper than a MacBook Pro. I just got tired of the limitations of iOS, which is why I upgraded. It's not just ED where I do this. Any game where you have downtime with little or no hands-on no activity, I start multitasking.

Practice my slight of hand, magic tricks, YouTube, online chess, a few other things...

Sometimes I just watch the star field. I could watch that for hours!

I have my Chromebook handy for checking on trade data and You Tube vids. I've even used time in Super Cruise to catch up on my reading!

I pack a small glass piece full of "onionhead". By the time I'm out of supercruise I forget where I am and why I'm there.

Oh and calling the voice attack AI an idiot. Forgot that one too.

Oh if we're being honest, paper, greens, you know the deal :) My name should be enough to explain

I tend to listen to Radio Sidewinder. Lately I haven't had LONG Supercruise moments so no need to do anything else, but if I did I'd probably check GalNet news.
