The Close Quarters Championship or CQC is an instant team-based action in the Elite: Dangerous galaxy, debuting exclusively on Xbox One in July.

It will have several modes including 12 player Deathmatch, 6v6 Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag and will be designed for competitive play with matchmaking and leaderboards.

Some further features:

Customise and pilot your own personalised fighter alongside your wingmen in the ultimate 34th Century gladiatorial contest.
Honed for competitive play, bringing a balanced combat space for players to test their skills against others on Xbox Live.
CQC will be a balanced, competitive experience, and we hope the eSports community will embrace it.
Integration into the wider Elite: Dangerous galaxy and narrative provides a stepping stone into the game’s experience.
Fly the Sidewinder, Eagle and (new to players) F63 Condor Federal Fighter.
Earn XP to increase your CQC rank. Unlock new modules, weapons and abilities.

The CQC will be exclusive for Xbox One until Holiday 2015, when it will come to PC and Mac.

Please what? We "PC und Mac Gamer" have to wait until Holiday 2015, because the XBOX One gets a "time exclusive" Addon? How much did Microsoft paid @ FD?

FD listened to all the complaints about PC being "Beta testers for the console market" and gave it someone who'd appreciate it. Fair play :)

Doubtful MS paid for this but, instead, had it as a requirement for entry onto their Xbox One platform.

Don't fret though, after that PC will be back as the primary platform for updates as confirmed by DB.

Also, there is already a thread about this, no? Merge, plz

Look at it this way, by the time we get it, they should have had more than enough time to work the bugs out.

Truth be told, i appreciate somebody else being the lab rats for a change.

We'll get it when it's done and we'll get it for free. Good enough for me.

Here's the flaw in that statement ... they will have worked out the bugs in the XBox version, this does not automagically translate to the PC/Mac versions

Disclaimer: It might work out the bugs in the PC/Mac versions, I honestly know nothing about game development so anything I said in this post could be 100% wrong.

If waiting bothers you enough buy an xbone and a second copy of the game for it. More cash for FD and the game improves everyone wins.

Uh, welcome to the mob, I guess. You know we're going home right? We already stormed the castle, but, umm...well, nice to see you show up, better late than never I reckon.

It's not, strictly speaking, Elite. It's a few of the ships of Elite: Dangerous being used for World of Tanks in space. Pardon me if I can't summon up any emotion beyond total ambivalence for it. If PC got it tomorrow or never got it at all it'd not effect me in the slightest.

I am with Fuzzy on this one. I have no interest in playing CQC. I love ED and what the team have done. When I watched CQC trailer I simply thought...Meh...

Hypocritically, I feel FD have let the Alpha/Beta/Kickstarter backers down in a BIG way and am aggrieved that we have been left out of the loop on this one, even though I probably wouldn't have done any testing. I hate being a hypocrite!

Powerups just don't feel right in ED I am afraid!

Who cares?

I'm angry about it and I only bought in just over a month ago. I can't imagine how the original backers feel.

It looks like a shady refocus of the game to make some cash and establish the company better at the expense of the current game's quality & development progress.

Of course, FD could chime in at any point with how they plan to improve the PC version and bring it closer to the original vision of the game.

Some feel betrayed, some feel elated. I think most of us feel just "meh" about the CQC coming 1st to XB1 and indeed about the whole CQC. Likewise, I think most of us experience some level of disappointment about the route FDEV seems to have taken and how they've been communicating it.

The original vision was that ED would be a improved , prettier clone of the original. That won't float for xbone players because it's too "boring".

This is why we have CqC.

It's quake in ships. If it makes ED more money and we get planetary landings quicker I'm all for it. If it goes the other way and ED becomes Xbox call of duty in space I'll just gain a few extra gigs of storage space from uninstalling the game.

Win win in my book.

When I paid £100 for premium beta I was promised a living, evolving galaxy with a true working background simulation and a real missions system.

What I feel we got is far from it.

Hopefully the money from Elite arena commander will let them fix it and make it what they promised for the PC backers.

The only true complaint about CQC, for me, is that it takes coders away from other projects. However, it does open up a new revenue stream.

Having had my fill of Tanks, Planes, and Mechwarrior, I will be happy to let console gamers have their fun with CQC. Looks like a Main Menu choice, so there should be no conflict with the persistent game, like Training. As long as they continue to clean up the PC version, and give us Planetary Landings, I will be patient.

But...POWERUPS!

Yeah, meh.

As long as they don't start thinking about balancing ships around it. That really would be horrible.

As a Kickstarter backer I think its a great idea. A lot of teenagers now play esports types of games with their "team", ED wouldn't be something they would normally look at. ED is not the sort of game you would normally see on console, so CQC offers a bridge to the game. I would like to be playing it, because its ideal for someone like me with little time to just dip into, have a quick bout of pew pew and log off again. In my view its about encouraging more players to the galaxy and that is what ED needs.
