Really? It never takes me more than about 5 minutes. I live in the East Midlands mind you, which - galactically speaking - is just around the corner.

Same here. The small patches we have had since 1.3 have only taken a couple of minutes to complete. I only have a 7mb DSL connection with two teenage daughters hogging most of the bandwidth.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the updates, that does truly suck when it takes that long for you.

I'm lucky the updates don't ever seem to take that long for me. My connection is pretty good here in Edinburgh, but i know that isn't the case elsewhere.

On balance though i'd prefer the game to be updated sooner rather than later.

I'm west coast US and updates come in at my max download speed (old docsis 2 cable modem) at just around 3MB/sec. Then applying the patch goes very fast since it's on SSD. If you're spending the entire night downloading it i can't imagine how bad multiplayer is for you or anyone else unfortunate enough to be in your instance. Though maybe you're lucking out and the update server is just on a bad route to your particular isp.

I have a screenshot somewhere of ED updating for me recently at over 90MB/second - and that's over my local WiFi network.

I'm in Kansas.

the "rate" displayed includes the syncing process. So at the beginning it will be your download speed...then at some point that completes and it starts syncing (patching) and the value shown is the data rate of that process.

I am 4,667 miles away and it always takes less than 5 minutes. :D

May I suggest that, if your computer is linked to your router with wireless, that you either (a) change your wireless channel to one that is rarely used locally, or (b) use a hardwired connection instead. :)

Im sorry you have this issue (for me, updates are done in minutes usually), i understand your frustration.

But seriously, complaining on a company for pushing out alot of updates and patches often??
Really, people are never satisfied....either its too few updates or its too many...

Fair enough, although my rate isn't unlikely - I have a gigabit fibre connection (Google Fiber).

I recommend you the Steam version then.
Set it at high update priority and get the updates automatically when steam is running.
There the updates are at full speed and have no issues as i had before.

This this and again this.
Game launchers for every game in existence (that I tried) have been slower than Steam (makes sense, DL-servers = expensive). Steam simply pulls with maximum speed. No issues whatsoever.

One thing I am NOT happy about is it still is not fixed. The game still contains bugs. At least provide an update for ALL bugs present. Then and only then continue to improve the game's features. Please.

I'll make one additional suggestion since updates take so long to get: Update the Steam folder that contains ED (and your other games). I believe that's the steamapps\common\*.* folder). Should disaster strike, and a new HD need to be installed (or just wiped and started over), you'll re-install Steam and let it create the normal folder structure. It's just a case of copying that \common\ folder contents back where they were. It can save HOURS of re-downloading stuff if you have it right there.
I've got a 1 TB external that backs up any and all modified files in that folder every night. Remember: "He who laughs last probably did a backup".

Well lets be realistic, if they only released updates to solve all bugs this game would still be in alpha... It's virtually impossible to solve all bugs with one update especially since fixes can introduce new, unforeseen issues. I'm not happy about bugs either and Frontier might arguably fix them slower than they should BUT at least we get regular updates and they try to solve some issues.

I haven't been on in a week and today when I entered the game the lag/stutter was unbearable, worst I've seen. Impossible to engage in combat or even dock without the DC. pauses and slow response during game play make it unplayable. I was wondering if it was just me. I didn't see an update when I started the game today. Is this a manual update?
