Working for Arissa Lavigny-Duval in a Fer-De-Lance

Up-front Admission: I haven't done anything with Powerplay yet. In fact, my play time over the past two weeks has been minimal.

Problem: I bought an FDL at Sagan Port, out in Patreus' collection of hovels, and then hopped along back to Kathmandu. With my Python being nearly 100 Ly away, and the FDL being the worst option for hauling papers to/from nearby systems for Arissa, I don't see how I can actively contribute to the fight.

Solutions: I'm not sure how many I'm missing, or even if I've got the Powerplay thing figured out wrong (I've watched a ton of videos on it so far), but the most apparent coarse is to spend the next two or three days in a Sidewinder, hopping back to Patreus' domain so that I can get my Python and bring it back to Arissa's sector. Then I can deliver papers as needed, but also hop in the 'Lance and blow people to smithereens for Her Royal Majesty. It's just that, for someone who gives bonuses for Bounty Hunting, it seems the only way for me to help her kick butt in this sector is to buy a 4-slot cargo rack and go deliver papers to people.

Am I missing anything, or is this essentially what I'm going to have to do in order to take part in Powerplay? Thanks in advance!

I dropped out of Powerplay largely due to this issue - that the most pro-bounty-hunting faction gives bounty hunters remarkably little to do for her.

That said, you can do the Expansion tasks, which consist of shooting corrupt cops in what are effectively conflict zones, and you can also Undermine non-Imperial opposing factions by destroying their faction ships in their control systems. This will get you a bounty on your head, but is also a fast way to gain merits.

Make money bounty hunting in Arissas sector in your FdL and use that money to fast track documents/garrison supplies and haul them to the neccesary systems in your Python.

WHAT'S WRONG? C.I.A. GAHT YOU POOSHIN TOO MANY PAYPAZ?

Go to expansion systems, hop into crime sweeps, blast corrupt cops. Cheaper than burning millions to run a hold-full of papers ... if not a bit slow. Alternatively, hit up Fed controlled systems and blow away their ships.

It's sad to see people still don't get PP. You can do tasks given by your power OR you can do whatever you want (or were doing up until PP) to earn credits, and "buy merits" with that credits. Supporting a power doesn't force you to play in a certain way, if you at least think and plan a little.

I gave in and signed up to PP on Monday. OP, don't you just go to the other powers' page see what they're up to and then go and harass them in your FdL to stop them delivery their junk mail?

Surely it isn't just a delivery grind? Don't you have to stop others from delivering their cargo rather than just out-delivering the opposition?

If i've misunderstood then PP will not be for me either I fear.

I'm getting lots of minor faction-based missions to hunt for other PP vessels (used to be just pirates or rivals) - do these not contribute towards PP (merits) at all then? It is only the NPC corrupt cop hunts that count?

I'm a little dense right now (just spent the weekend being sun-baked out in the wilderness, camping), but what do you mean "fast track documents/garrison supplies"? I don't see the connection between "having credits from blowing things up in an FdL" and "hauling papers".

It's not that I don't "get" PP, it's that I hadn't played it before posting this and wasn't sure if I was reading my chosen Power's description correctly. For everyone else, though, it certainly seems like they have valid concerns (especially in the utter lack of hiring an NPC to deliver ships for us).

Did you know that going out to enemy control systems and interdicting their transports gives you 15PP pop?

I do now! ;-)

I've been looking around, and I honestly don't get what you mean by "buy merits" with credits.

You only get 1 allocations of your deliverables quota (10/15/20/25/30 tonnes, based on rank) every 30 mins. But you can "buy" more for 10k credits/tonne. Hence converting credits to merits. You can only do this when you've collected your allocation - the button then converts to a "fast track next quota" button.

Doh, I looked right at the damned thing and didn't even "see" it. Thanks, SDT!
