went afk, all modules disabled, stuck in res with oxygen running out

Never go afk unless docked, simple, never fly uninsured. If out in space and need to go afk, drop from SC/boost away and log off.

You can safely go afk in a RES, just boost 30km above the asteriods nothing will bother you that far above, as to the OP did you try disabling un-needed modules?

this smells like a troll to me, was legit until the AFK after launch of T9 thats just too suspicious
I've accidentally hit LAUNCH instead of RETURN TO SURFACE once or twice after outfitting. So I guess the OP could have done that, then gone AFK expecting to find his ship sitting on the pad rather than floating around the station in chunks. Still amazingly careless though.

I suggest you to write to the support and ask them to teleport you to the nearest station.
It's not too hard.
If they will not help you, then you can go AFK for a while :p

I would offer delivering fuel but this is so hilariously well deserved, it brings out the evil in me, so....I won't.

A similar thing happen to me in RL this week...

I went to work the other day in my uninsured Car and as it was a hot day i thought i'd leave the engine and aircon running all day, the office carpark was full so i left it in the street, obviously this meant leaving the keys in the ignition and it unlocked, but what the heck could happen. Imagine my surprise at 5pm to come out and find it a burnt out shell as it had overheated but luckily the theives had already made off with all the valuables so that was a small consolation, that at least someone was getting use out of my laptop and camera.

Luckily Sidewinder Vehicle Hire lent me a car to get home, they did joke with me when i gave them my name and said "You again!!" But they clearly respect me as they have put a picture of me at the top of their ID'ten'T Customer board in the main reception.

It's a real candidate for a Darvin Award.

But i want to help if i can.
Where is you now?

Aye I was going to suggest looking at the fuel recovery thread and asking them for help.

I'd offer to do it myself, but you only have one chance and since I've never done it before there's a good chance I'd fluff it up.

The thing is the 19 seconds...

I mean you'll have to coordinate this to the second before even attempting it, you log on and the recoverer will have to locate you and deliver fuel limpets within 19 seconds.

Obviously you'd need to friend up first, but it might even take 30 seconds before your recoverer sees you in his/her instance. =(

You'll be very lucky to get out of this one I think.

I went afk... I do not want to log in right now because I will suffocate in 19 seconds.

I doubt 19 seconds is long enough for anyone to come to your aid sorry.

19 seconds isn't enough time...

Pessimists, naysayers and know-it-alls: begone!

To OP: Where are you? Are you interested in at least giving a small ounce of hope in still saving the ship? This will be a tough one, but it's better than just giving up.

Funnily enough, also in a RL car, if you run out of fuel, even though you still have power in your car, no amount of turning of the ignition key is going to bring your engine to life to give you a few more miles drive unless however you are at the top of a very steep hill and want to free wheel down it. Sure you can keep turning that key, but eventually .. your battery will drain, leaving you wituout so much of a flicker of power left.

So why would you expect having no fuel woud have no adverse affect on your power for modules etc?

No offence but how the hell did you get this far in game (FDL) and not read the manual ???? or figure out the very basics ??? Also buying a ship in this game is the same as buying a fast car. Yes I can afford to buy a Ferrari in real life right now but I cannot afford to run it. Its all cost of ownership. If you cannot afford to insure the ship you cannot afford it full stop. Just garage it for now and fly a T6 or something cheap till you build up enough to kit it out and insure it properly. Then it largely does not matter if it gets blown up. If you need to know something about game mechanics just pop back here and we are all very happy to help you.

All that said I am sorry about your ship this time. I wish I could do something to rescue you or help you out. All I can suggest is make sure all hardpoints are powered down and re start you ship with minimal modules powered up. It may or may not give you enough time to get to a star to scoop. Good luck

Ichigo, listen to Anuranium.

You are almost certainly not going to make it - but there is a tiny sliver of a chance.

If you let people know where exactly you are - and you can't log on to check. They'll need the system, the exact planet, and then you need to pray the planet only has one RES in its rings.

Then it's just faintly possible that someone can go there in Open Play and wait for you. You'd need to log on in Open Play, and then you'll need to luckily log in in the same instance, and within sensor range of the person waiting. That's a throw of the dice, with pretty long odds.

That person then has 19 seconds to target you, deploy a fuel transfer limpet which then needs to reach you and deliver its fuel before your ship blows up.

If all those things happen (very unlikely) then you may be okay by the skin of your teeth.

You'd need to friend whoever it was and coordinate, discussing it in the main menu chat - they'd need to be waiting with the fuel limpet fire group ready and selected and only then could you log on, hoping you're close enough.

Anuranium is one of the Fuel Rats though - I've actually watched the video where he rescued someone far, far out in the deep black of unexplored space. If anyone can do this, Anuranium can.

If it doesn't work, think about what went wrong and how you can avoid it in future. Part of the game is learning from your mistakes:

1. Your ship has fuel; it can run out. Watch your fuel. Plan your routes. Learn how to safely scoop fuel from stars, and which stars you can scoop from (only stellar classes O, B, A, F, G, K and M. Mnemonic to remember: Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me).
2. Don't go afk in open space. Log off. You don't burn fuel while you're logged off, and it's just a good habit. Also, it can be dangerous logging off near objects like stars and asteroids. Get a little distance from them before logging off.
3. Never, ever fly without your insurance rebuy in your balance. As long as you have your rebuy, you can get back your ship with all its modules for only 5% of its cost if you blow up. If you don't have the insurance rebuy, you can lose everything. Your rebuy amount is shown directly under your balance in your status screen. It's repeated in the financial info.
