10 More powers? Where? There's no room left.

I was just wondering where in the Galaxy are the ten new powers going to fit?

Will we always be limited with a total of ten and a new power added when one fails?

 :S

I'm more concerned about where they new ones come from. That and whether FD have the budget to cover new portraits.

Maybe they're minor powers that don't rely on directly controlling an organized bubble of space, and exist "in between". There are plenty of independent systems within civilized space right now.

Well...

OK space is big but mostly uninhabited. And power play rules say systems must be inhabited.

And when these new powers turn up will they have fewer systems than the existing ones or will they completely change the pecking order.

For instance Antal had 7 or 8 systems and was ranked 10 so add another 10 powers below Antal and you're looking at powers with only one system to start with or maybe even in a deficit.

I obviously missed something - When did they say we were getting 10 more?

First there are a lot of systems outside the main blob. A 'new' Power will probably start like the 3 outliers (Pirate, Independent, and Corporate)...with a single region with 6-10 CC's. It will be up to the supporters of the faction to make something out of it.

Remember....if this is a player group we are talking about....the group would have to be hundreds of players. Or a smaller group dedicated to the community, who can count on the support of those types of numbers from people that want to play within the story line.

Ah thanks - just saw it in an article "Players can even help create new Powers. The feature will launch with an initial selection of factions, but this will rise to a maximum of 20 as minor local forces grow to become Powers."

Wonder what the magic number of systems a minor faction needs to control to become a power

Who says the new Powers have to fit around the existing ones? They might just carve out some of their territory for themselves.

They are already in-game. They are flying the rest of the 30 ships we haven't seen, near Thargoid territory. Currently they can be found in offline mode on Xbox.

They really need to re-align the galaxy to be more logical and realistic. Like if a power who is indepndent/alliance and they acquire a territory it should be flipped to alliance or taken away from fed/imp control.

Right now its too unrealistic being so random out here. I mean sure systems will flip eventually or join a faction but it wouldn't be this completely random as it is right now.

Organizing a power should be tied directly to

1) A couple types of preferred governments - meaning any controlled system will flip to that government
2) A preferred faction - and that system will flip to that allegiance/power.
