10 More powers? Where? There's no room left.

i'd like to know where is based the federation of pilots, and who is representing us CMDR's ?

and who is the interface creator for ships, this guy must be very rich ! exclusivity on every ship

Don't forget that powers can collapse, too!

The common perception seems to be, that Powerplay is exactly what we see now.
I don't think so; it has barely started! Currently, there are plenty of high-value systems to expand to. The "overhead" is low and all powers make good CC profit.

At some point in the future, this will change! All the good systems in reachable space will be taken, leaving only low yield systems or even systems with negative income for the next expansions. The bloated powers will face mind-blowing overhead costs and the sheer amount of control systems will make them vulnerable for undermining, as it will be hard to fortyfy all systems and prepare new ones at the same time (leading to even increased upkeep).
If there are valuable systems at all to prepare and conquer, they will be far away and it will take long to reach them (= less time for other tasks to fulfill).

Turmoil will be the least severe of all consequences, leading to the loss of single systems (=creating place for new powers).
Remember, that powers are in danger to collapse completely, if they don't manage to expand over an unknown amount of cycles. This doesn't seem likely at the current game phase. But I would bet, we all will be surprised, how PP will develop over time! All of a sudden there might be more than enough space for new powers to rise!

For me, all this seems to be sought out extremely well!
I really think, PP is underestimated by a majority of those who find it boring. We are barely at the beginning of the game. The "setup-phase" so to say. Most board games are not very tantalizing at this point. But I can imagine that this will change dramatical, once PP is on full speed and all the powers have reached their maximal expansion.
If (and this is necessary, of course) a player cares at least a little bit about the future of his chosen power, things might get really, really thrilling!

I am looking forward to it! :)

Well, the Emperor is recovering so he may be a new faction. Just watch entire sectors of the Imperial factions defect immediately :p.

And Halsey may come back with a vengeance, I suppose.

I agree with this gentleman. Interesting times to come.

LOL, your Elite galaxy must be a lot smaller than mine :D.

I agree, and also we should not forget that FD will tweak it when necessary and might even add totally new features to PP. I consider PP an excellent foundation for future expansions.

For me PP has already completely changed the way I view the ED universe. It has added layers of meaning to it, given it a face.

I so want some Thargoid Powers.

Also, to see a Power based on the Thargoids. :D

I think we could do with some more Independent Powers, and maybe a rival for Mahon in the Alliance. Definitely we need more Federal Powers for variety.

While I'd like to see Senator Loren rise to a Power, I think her creator has other plans and hopes for her in mind. Perhaps for the same reasons, I can't see The Pilots Federation rising into a Power, even though it had expanded into LFT 926 earlier in the year.

Maybe Universal Cartographics should become a Power, albeit a non-territorial one that is on good relations with all the other Powers.

What about Mad Harry Duval as an Imperial Power. That would be fun to watch. :D

Really, though, there has to be a way for a given Minor Faction of some influence to be able to rise to the position of Power; or if that's not how it works, for some other Power to arrive naturally and not suddely pop into existence. If the game designers can have further methods to provide CC bonuses for small Powers and more maluses for large and unwieldy Powers, this could happen somehow. Maybe an organised players' independent revolt against a Power, with a figurehead growing from such an organisation, could do this.

Existing powers can be split up in the future. There is even a mechanic that makes sense in that context already (overhead).

I heard a huge section of the galaxy was permit only...

There are several, many of them tens of thousands of light years away. One of the nearest in the local spur is named the Regor region, as all the systems prefixed Regor require an "unknown permit."

I've always thought these nearby permit-only systems could be established and as-yet-unknown fruits grown from the seeds that were Generation Ships... In any case, we could do with more Humans to play with, maybe even hive-mind societies and large-scale Thargoid-worshipping theocracies.
