Drive Disabled Changes?

So, I got interdicted by a CMDR in a Clipper. Had other players of my faction around so I thought I'd get some help. Regardless, I'm dead now (no demands, just a psychopath.)

What I don't understand is why. I haven't played since the beginning of wings until this week, so I probably missed a change somewhere.

After I am interdicted, how long are my "drives disabled?" (Mind you, I tried to submit but that gameplay mechanic doesn't really work right all the time.)

I thought I could tank him long enough to get out. My FSD drive timer came and went. My shield cells came and went. I'd say my drives were disabled a good 90 seconds? What's the situation on this now? If I had realized I was never going to be able to jump out, I would have fought and maybe survived long enough for help.

Thanks

Should be a blue spinning orb on the bottom right showing the time left for FSD recharge, check it next time you hyperspace jump or drop out of supercruise. When interdicted if you loose the minigame it takes much longer. Submitting shortens it considerably but yeah the minigame has a few issues against other CMDR's. Test with NPC's :p

If he shot out your shields and destroyed your drives then they will never come back.
You need to use the re-boot and repair option which cuts out your controls for a while and sort of salvages from other modules to get you back to limping so you can escape.

My little blue spinning FSD icon had come and went, which is why I was surprised I couldnt jump out. The drives were disabled the entire time, before my shields were popped.

It felt like way more than 40 seconds. We did two passes before I decided to run, and I popped three shield cells and was trying to jump until the bitter end. Had to be longer than 40 seconds...

Just tested emergency drop from SC and I see no changes at all. Standard 45 seconds FSD cool down in case of emergency drop and ~8-10 seconds in case you submit.

Probably sometimes you are unable to submit as you are forced to exit SC too fast since the beginning of the interdiction, i.e. you were unable to decelerate for safe exit.

As for your disabled drives - are you sure that they were not damaged or did not malfunction?

Have you modified the priorities of your modules?

................. I think I'm the biggest idiot in the universe.............

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I left my hardpoints out... and that would explain why my drives were disabled, as I have them low priority so they shut down when my hardpoints are extended....

Move along... Nothing to see here...

+1 for coming back and telling.

btw you can't jump with hardpoints deployed, whatever priority they are set to :)

In my defense... I did mention that I'm coming back from some time away from the game, right?

Right, but normally it says hardpoints deployed, can't jump yada yada... But it was saying drive disabled, which is what had me confused.

Lol, it is pretty common to set your FSD and anything not needed for combat to a higher priority, to squeeze more power for better weapons/shield cell banks and such. Since you spent some time away, you may have forgotten this. After retracting hardpoints, it takes a few seconds for the FSD to turn back on.

One time I forgot to set priorities in a new ship, went to a combat zone, deployed hard-points and everything shut down. That was pretty scary.
