Scanning problems here as well.

The discovery scan will often report that it's found objects, yet those objects won't actually show in the left-hand navigation menu until you complete the scan for a second time. With surface scanning, it will sometimes scan the target, stop at the point at which it normally displays the results and then just re-scan it, with the results only actually displaying at the end of the second scan.

Yup, but I noticed this months ago : not brought to the game by 1.3.x. Still annoying even if not critical.

Is there any ETA on the next Xbox One version build?

As I am sure you guys are already aware, the current build is plagued with terrible frame rate issues as well as significant audio distortion and drop outs. Would be nice to get a smoother more optimized version for the console. Something more along the lines of what XB1 owners are accustomed to, as in a solid and LOCKED 30fps or higher.

Is this the correct forum area to ask these XB1 specific update release questions?

Thanks in advance.

Good morning GG7,

Moderators are unpaid volunteers drawn from the community - not Frontier staff.

The best place to ask would be in this forum.

Regards,

RM.

I'm feeling like a beta tester.

Can you please do these balancing changes and fixes in the beta stage?

No mate because then the beta will last several months, just to get a content patch pushed out. Its not an expansion, its a patch. I know some people on the forum like to think that life revolves around this game and their time on it, but it doesn't. Its a game like any other.

Beta gets a workable version out to live, from there they tweak as necessary. If you don't agree the beta is workable when it goes live, then don't play it until it has been fixed to your liking.

There are three separate double-scan problems:

- surface scanning: it scans,reports success in text, but not in the scanner, KEEPS ON SCANNING, reports success
- discovery scanning: you ping the system, it reports nothing (except the one you get for being close); you do it again: it finds 25 bodies
- discovery scanning: you ping the system, it reports finding 25 bodies, but nothing appears on your scanner or navigation window; you scan again: they appear

All three happen ... basically all the time. As in, 1 in 5 systems I visit will have at least one of these 3 issues.

Edit: the first happened 4:23 BST, Boson Higgs, scanning HYPOE FLYI VI-T C6-326 1

If you want an example of the other two... well, any system I've visited in the last 2 days where I haven't (according to the system) discovered all of the bodies ;p

Regarding the system ping issue, I have a vague workaround that seems to help. When I first jump into a system I haven't scanned, I noticed sometimes that the actual star first jumped in to doesn't show up as selectable with 'Unexplored' for several seconds. If I pinged the system before it became selectable, I wouldn't find anything, or it would discover them but show nothing in navigation, just like you. If I waited until the star registered as selectable (selecting it as a target and beginning the scan its scan before I ping), then my ping works pretty much all the time.

This suggests that after jump-in, the game needs a certain amount of time sometimes (or there's lag) to get the system data and your current knowledge of it from the background server. If you ping before it does that, it bugs out. So maybe the issue relates to that somehow? I hope that might help in resolving the bug.

As for the double-scanning of stellar bodies - I haven't discovered any discernible pattern for why that happens.

So shoot out a 7A power plant -> 500k repair? Should we just fit an AFMU at this point?

If you have the money to buy the A7 power plant, you should have the money to fix it when it breaks.. But if you lose 100% of your power plant your paying for insurance since you just exploded... Also AFMU wont work on power plant since you have to turn the module off to repair it and you cant turn your power plant off.. I hate to be rude but did you even think before asking that or have you never played the game and don't understand any of the mechanics??

Can you guys PLEASE fix the launcher?!?!
Every time we have to update, part of your update process is to wipe out the AppConfig.xml file, which changes any settings we put in there, while also turning on UPnP, which not all of us use. I have Sonicwall firewall which DOES not support that UPnP junk. Every time I hit the UPGRADE button, I see the file being replaced with a fresh copy and my setting disappear.

With every update, I feel like dropping this game altogether because I'm having to hit UPGRADE like 3 dozen times, watching it fail, until by some miracle it works and manages to download the update.

This is getting old.

If you put the change into AppConfigLocal.xml then it shouldn't be overwritten.

Unfortunately the trend nowadays is either too high or to low it seems.
I am also from the kind who finds the repair and fuel cost way too low, breaking the immersion.
I also would like seeing repair/refuel/loading cargo take some time...call me a madman if you want :)

The argument is that if repair cost is too high, bounty hunting, assassination, etc...are not (less?) profitable. And I am afraid that from the gameplay perspective, this is actually right...
Did a big mistake yesterday :

Accepting one pirate hunting mission of 450k and two transport missions.
Going to a "Rich Extraction Site" with cargo.
Each time I attacked a pirate, two new pirates scanned me and attacked me, so I had to flee at 60% with my Python.

I did a mistake, my ship was heavily damaged cause of this and and once I payed my reparations, I had 650k benefits between mission reward and wanted primes.
Actual gameplay reward me when doing a mistake, so I'm always a winner, whatever I do.
Seriously not fun.

BTW, if more peoples used AFMU it would mean one less module emplacement for maxed out "Shields Cell Banks".
Low maintenance costs and/or no modules change costs allow to have ultra-specialized high-cost configurations which don't enrich the gameplay.

you can't fix power plants with them, so for ships like the anaconda with an insanely 168M PP, they're useless

I cannot find a file called AppConfigLocal.xml on my computer anywhere (and yes I am administrator, show hidden / system files etc) so can you check that this information is correct and if so please advise on where it should reside. Thanks

You can create it in the same folder as the AppConfig.xml. The easiest way is to copy the existing AppConfig.xml - then remove everything that you haven't set.

So end up with a file called AppConfigLocal.xml containing only the lines:

<Network
Port="0"
upnpenabled="1"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"
VerboseLogging="1"
>
</Network>

Or am I being dense here? Sorry if I am but would appreciate knowing exactly what to do, as I am sure would all the other users of EDDiscovery .. thanks

You need the enclosing AppConfig tags, so:

Code:
<AppConfig>
<Network
Port="0"
upnpenabled="1"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"
VerboseLogging="1"
>
</Network>

</AppConfig>
