Hey, how about some "Reasonable Suspicion" here, eh?

I think the violence perpetuated by the authorities in this game are actually more similar to 'Merican policing. (I'm American for the record, lol)

What? They shoot you if you are black and sprinkle crack in your cockpit?

Oh crap, we are all wearing black spacesuits.

Don't you guys have Reasonable Suspicion over there in Merry Ol' England? What the heck?!? Why are cops interdicking my Type 9 -- causing eight grand worth of damage, by the way -- and then just flitting off as if nothing happened? No message, nuthin'. If that kinda crap happened here in The Good Ol' USA there would be civil liability out the yingus-yangus. Scummy coppers don't even bother to apologize for dinging up my barge, nothing. ats.

And along those lines, an interdiction -- any interdiction without justification -- should immediately change the interdicker's status to WANTED because of the damage inflicted by the interdiction. It's just as if the interdicker fired weapons on the interdickee. Why hasn't this been fixed long ago?

There in the US they would take your money from your wallet, claim you intend to purchase drugs with it and then drive off. Civil Asset Forfeiture.

If you're taking damage when you submit, make sure you keep fighting it as your ship slows down. If the red bar fills up before you slow down enough, it will rip you out just as if you hadn't submitted and you will get damaged.

Hello Commanders!

A little info drop:

If you submit quickly enough, you should not really be taking any damage. If anyone is taking damage even after submitting *instantly*, I think it might be good to get a bug raised.

Authority ships interdict criminals and suspicious ships.

With criminals it's fairly obvious, you're wanted by them, they interdict you to take you down.

Suspicious ships are interdicted to check and see if they are smuggling illicit cargo: just because you are CLEAN, does not guarantee that you are not committing a crime :)

Your reputation with a minor faction affects how suspicious the authorities think you are. As it rises, the less bothered the authorities will become, and the less likely you will be targeted for a spot check.

Hope this info helps.

Besides, when I get pulled over by a copper here in the States he at least has his lights and siren to tell me who he is. In supercruise there is no difference between a "legitimate" stop and a pirate attack. I'm not going to submit to an interdiction when there is a possibility that it's some missile- and beam-equipped Anaconda psycho on a killing spree.

If you submit properly you won't take any damage, so you're doing something wrong. And the police send you a message to let you know it's an authority stop and scan - pay attention to the comms panel when you get interdicted.

Besides, by submitting you get a much shorter FSD cooldown making it really easy to boost away and jump to safety. Escaping NPCs is far too easy in this game.

If actually looking up is too much effort then my sympathy is limited.

The window only unfold and show the message if I turn my head with my TrackIR and LOOK at the area.

As long as I mind my own business and look at where im heading I will simply not SEE the message since there is no notification that alerts me.

Then that sounds not like a problem with this part of the system but a problem with using TrackIR.

Outrageous!! A game with dangerous in the title that requires you to turn your head and actually LOOK at things to know what is going on.

Seriously, this is a perfectly valid mechanic and it is ludicrously easy to avoid any consequences even if you ARE wanted or committing a crime. FD have more important things to address than nannying every player who finds something a tad inconvenient. If they implemented a "WIN button" somebody would surely complain that it was not big enough or should press itself for you.

They have a point.
Today's patch introduced KWS in SC.
They should also cargo scan while in SC too, so there is no reason for security or cops to interdict any clean player.
In reality that should save the cops time and more effiecent.

If you hit your "show highest threat key" after the interdiction starts you can quickly see which ship is involved.

Hello Commander I and I Redeye!

Actually we have not made KWS work in super cruise. You may be referring to the fact that we have fixed wake scanners so that all versions of them work in super cruise rather than only one of them.

That's not to say that KWS (or cargo scanners) will never work in super cruise of course (there are arguments for and against), just that they currently don't and there are no immediate plans to change this.

Whenever I'm being interdicted, the first thing I do is target nearest hostile. This will target whomever is interdicting you.

I use this brief moment to assess whether I should submit or fight. If it is an authority vessel, it will already be marked as so (without scan needed), then I'll happily pull over and let them do their job. We part ways and everyone is content. Most of the time, I end up seeing a pirate and fight the interdiction (sling em into a star, if you can).

Also, 8k in damages for a T9 pilot...heck, even for a T6 pilot is chump change, right? Small price to pay, I say, for living in a galaxy run by 2 massive police states.

Wow, now I'm completely and utterly confused.

UPDATE: yes, confused KWS with wake scanner (I guess because of the 'W')

Do KWS scanners now work in SC or not?

By different 'versions' you mean grades?

You miss my point and turn to hyperbole.

9 times out of 10 that text window is utterly useless - there is not even a flashing icon that a new message is directed at me.

When I get a notification of Faction Reward and similar points the little mail icon lights up to tell me a message has arrived.
When someone (npc or player ) sends me a message there is no indication of it, zip, zero nada.

I can have a signal or vibration on my phone to inform me of an SMS and that's not an unreasonable thing. Esopecially if it is something important like an NPC in supercruise trying to tell me something.

A flashing icon would at least be helpful just as my onboard computer CONSTANTLY tells me if a targets shield is on or off but it cannot tell me I have a message?
