Ships Best ship, loadout and tactics for running away

Here's my situation:

I'm returning to the bubble after 5 weeks of exploration and want to sell my data at Lembava in the CG there. In order to get there safely, I'm planning to dock at a station close to the edge of human space where security is high and the distance from the primary star to the nearest starport is very short.
There I will store my unarmed, unshielded and by now very worn Asp and buy a fast ship to get me safely to Lembava. I'm thinking Cobra MkIII, as it is one of the fastest ships in the game, it's inexpensive and is for sale nearly everywhere.

My main concern is preserving all my exploration data, so doing a Sir Robin in case of interdiction is, in my mind, the better part of valor. (I'm clean and not pledged to any power, btw.)

So what do you think I should buy and equip, and just as important, what tactics should I employ in order to:

- Avoid interdiction.
- Evade an interdiction in progress.
- Run unscathed in case the interdiction succeeds.

I'll do whatever it takes except combat logging, so please share your wisdom.

Kitting out is easy.
A class thrusters, power distributor, shields. Probably a good power plant to provide the juice for the distributor. A couple of 0A shield boosters too.

If you see an NPC swing around behind you on the scope, change direction 90° and slow down to drop out of supercruise. Once you drop out, pick a random direction, boost, FA off and engage silent running for a short time. Disengage silent running after a minute then get on your way once again.

If you get interdicted, make sure your throttle is in the exact middle of the blue section of your speed bar. Try and twist, turn, yaw and everything you can to keep that escape vector central but DON'T CHANGE THROTTLE from middle. Unless you want to submit, then zero throttle while still trying to keep the target central.

A hyperspace jump is better for escape than supercruise because you don't get mass locked.

There is also an alternative - imperial courier. With its shield/size/speed combination this ship is one of the safest ways to travel IMO.
But it will be harder to find then cobra...

Cobra all the way. I hate the little £$%^s as my Python is too slow to dispense justice as the Cobra waves in the distance.

There is a really good guide on how to escape from a bad situation written by Cmdr Kyokushin. I'll try to find it and link here.

::EDIT::

There we go:

sad to say, but this guide is out of date and no longer works except against AI. Most griefers are in FdL or Python with enough speed/firepower to stop you cold, and they often travel in wings which can make escape almost impossible.

Your only sure 100% defense is run a Cobra or have big ship with huge shields to avoid wing ganking. There are other techniques for getting away in slow weak ships, but as soon as they are well known, they will be countered as easily as the guide above.

Thanks for all the great advice so far.

So with a Cobra having only two utility mounts, what do you recommend I equip in case of successful interdiction:

- Shield booster(s), so my shields can take more of a pounding while I boost like a madman.

- Point defense, to take care of the nasty missiles they try to shoot up my tailpipe.

- Chaff launcher, to confuse their gimballed/turreted weapons.

- Heat sinks, so I can engage silent running while my FSD charges. (has the side effect of dropping shields, so I might be taken out by a lucky shot).

What combo would you recommend, and why ?

the Scout is too slow to run away from FdL or even Vulture. It has a high top speed, but loses boost too quickly.

That's not true. I've escaped wings of FDL/Clipper multiple times. Its pretty much impossible to catch a Scout which can fly almost as quickly as a Cobra and silent run pretty much constantly if needed.

I believe the courier wins hands down. It's got great speed, MASSIVE shields, tons of power, and lots of utility mounts. Double up on chaff, take booster or two, max out the other fundamentals. You may not win the fight, but you absolutely will not lose it.

I pledged with Archon, and i see quite a few times Harma (the capital), camped by various gangs. Every time when i was interdicted in my courier, i escaped really easy with my courier via high jump. Most of the times, after i reload batteries in a nearby system, i came back and i think the game put me in separate instance because the system is clear. One of the most persistent gangs was formed from 2 pythons and 1 fdl, and even with all this firepower, i escaped very easy, every time.
My setup is here: Is a hell of a tank, but you can travel with impunity (yes jump range is small but for this i have scout and cobra).

EDIT: don't forget to map to a separate key or even better button on joystick, shield cells because this is the way to survive when you have to tank concentrated fire. The above setup is very good to me for pvp, kill missions, farming merits (if the distance is too long i switch to another ship) and pew pew.

These were bad players then who didn't know how to equip their ships or snipe. Either that, or you were lucky. Running silently around an FdL is a huge risk with all that fire power since they can disable your thrusters fairly quickly.
