CQC should not take priority over previously promised features.

I backed this game because it was promising planetary landings and fps combat. Now I read the news letter today after months of hearing anything about fps combat to find that fd have dedicated resources and teams of devs to Xbox one builds and an ed arena commander knock off, while the fps promises fall by the wayside. This is complete nonsense plain and simple. I would like a dev response on this.

I don't ever recall them "promising" fps combat (thankfully) and I've been with this since the kickstarter.

I dont care, bringing in CQC will be the biggest addition to the game since they opened up the rest of the universe, because since then not a whole lot has happened. We get trickle fed ships because thats enough to keep some around. Has any of these patches so far changed how anyone plays the game? Traders still trade like they always have, and hunters still hunt like they always have. Missions are still exactly the same as they were before regardless of FD claiming an overhaul. Matter of fact, the game is arguably worse now with the current system of rep decay.

Can we all agree not to use "promised" regarding expansions? FD has always said what they *want* to make as expansions. But they have never *promised* them. Yes, I have expansion pass. Still won't dictate FD their priorities.

Now, CQC is something lot of people has been asking for a time, and is comparingly easy thing to develop using existing assets. As Microsoft asks for some exclusivity content (in exchange of marketing support) CQC fits right to their alley.

It's a bit late now it's practically finished and it's all over the press.

Planetary landings and fps combat were part of their campaign from very early on. Look at my avatar, that's fps concept art as old as the station interior concepts and the like. If its all to be forgotten now that's fine and I can accept the fact that i invested unwisely. I just think it's shady to sell people on future content and then use their money to fund game modes and builds they had no interest in spending money on. I own arena commander and a ps4, so what am i gonna do with any of this stuff? Powerplay is cool but its all basic stuff that should have been part of the core gameplay imo. I appreciate all your replies and I apologize for saying promised. What I should have said is led to believe.

Megalon, no one says there's no intent to develop these. As we chat FD most likely already working on walking expansions. They just will come when they're ready.

Also majority of money came from FD itself. As I said, we don't get call the shots.

U are seriously always on the forums. Not a huge selling point for the game when the fan boys arent too busy playing to reply to every thread with a hint of adversity toward fd in them.

In response to your response- I'm not trying to call shots. I did not ask for them to add planetary landings or fps combat. I backed the game because their old website said these features would be included in the game in the future. Not only that, David braben himself said at a conference that those features were the most.important to him. Not xboner and pew pew rooms. That's all.

I haven't died yet does that mean that I'm immortal?

Just because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean that it won't.

Jeez...there are two things here which bug me every time people say them...

#1 - "Nothing should take priority over planetary landings and FPS combat". Oh, I see...so they should stop everything they're doing, build an entire extra game into Elite, and release it in a year or so (given that's how long it'll take to build something like that). Excellent, so the same people who're complaining about the lack of FPS would be complaining about the lack of updates.
#2 - "This game is unfinished". Ah, gotcha. So they shouldn't have released anything when they did, and built in Wings, Power Play, FPS, planetary landings and all the other good stuff...and maybe released it in two or three years' time instead, when everybody's dismissed the game as vapourware and the company's tanked due to lack of finances? Brilliant plan.

CQC is just a sub-game which, IIRC, doesn't affect the main. FD needs CQC so that ED offers different styles of game play. If all you're interested in is pew pew pew and/or spaceship racing, then CQC fills that gap while also bringing extra cash. I like the idea of CQC (not thrilled it was console exclusive, but that was the carrot and stick to get console users on board). When I get bored with the main game, it would be nice to do something different without affecting my save (if that's how CQC works).

i enjoy the rhetoric but i was not saying i thought it would never happen. like many frontier forum goers you are obviously missing the point.
