NOW is the time....

Now that E3 is over and the Xbone/CQC has been announced, Now is the time to fix your game, no new content, no new nothing unless it specifically involves fixing the game.

In no particular order.

1. Stuttering - Ruinous to gameplay.
2. Instancing - Whats the point of Wings if you can't wing up? no large player battles.
3. Cargo drop rates.
4. Exploration scanning issues still persist.
5. Powerplay imbalances, Can't go into too much detail as I don't participate but I know there are many problems.
6. Asteroid field fog/distant rendering.
7. Trade markets still broke, some markets never increase or decrease supplies.
8. Losing rep with minor factions when selling goods to them, even though allied. (not pledged).
9. Rep decay offline, rep should only decay if your hostile to a minor faction and not pledged.
10. Shield recharge at stations and outposts, I know this was because of the griefers, but the community is being punished, has to be a better way.

I know there are many more core game mechanics that need love, and please forgive my presumptuousness in saying what you need to work on, but for all the potential this game has, it won't be worth diddly squat if the player base leaves in droves because all the core mechanics don't work.

So maybe this is more of a plea, but please, pretty please concentrate efforts on fixing the game as it stands.

I'm sure FD have a development plan which involves fixing all of these, I doubt whatever us on the forum say wont change what their plan is though.

I'm sure it probably won't but that doesn't change the fact that we can discuss and let our opinions made known to FD. The problem I see is that there are some serious gameplay issues that have not been fixed in months. This is very concerning for the players that are affected, if FD is working on a major issue, and maybe they are, some updates on the progress would be extremely helpful, otherwise It just creates endless complaints on the forums and new players see all these complaints and make their decisions to buy or not buy.

No news = bad news... especially if it is a major problem..

Completely agree with the OP. Let's get what is already in game fixed and not add yet more problems and bugs on top. As I have said in previous posts, continually broken game mechanics is the only thing that will drive me from this game.

All those are true, though personally I think the fact that 3 out of 6 professions (mining, smuggling and piracy) still don't work properly (and if you say they do, compare them to bounty hunting or trading, and then come and say it with a straight face) is far more serious.

You think exploration works?

They said in their latest update (#80) that they have something BIG for Gamescom.

The fact that they have been teasing this for some time now and said nothing so far (which means it's almost ready) + the fact that Gamescom is in more than 1 month from now makes me think that YES, now IS the best time to fix at least a few of these bugs.

Agreed and it is what I meant when I said things have been broken for months with no fix. Core gameplay features that do not work will kill a game faster than anything short of an EMP burst ;)

So many good things about exploration, so many bad things, the core of exploration needs to be fixed, balanced and added to, it's the most looked over profession next to smuggling. they both need some creative love.

Completely agreed now is the time! we don't need anymore oooh shiney news, proimises of things to come, the game needs core attention. It's the promise that keeps us flying, it's the failure to deliver which will cause us to self-destruct.

One thing i hate is about exploring that made me stop. Was the issue that for some stupid reason i have the best discovery scanner but need to pulse it many times to discover all the objects in a system. Then when detail scanning it doesnt scan the first time and have to rescan all over again. The most i had to scan one thing was 4 times. Thats when i turned my ship around and headed back. Oh ya also why dont you get anything for scanning asteroid belts ? YOu can mine those and retract stuff from them.

Stuttering what the hell right after 1.3 its been super crappy.

instances i dont care to much about since the idiots ramming people i dont do open play.

Powerplay LOL whats power play. I have no use for that whatsoever. Was a big waist of dev time and money.

One major flaw right now the subsystems on ships targeting sucks so bad. Whats the point of hull armor or reinforced hulls???

Stuttering imho is FD's #1 enemy it must get fixed asap.

Instancing doesn't just apply to open, it affects the private groups as well. Simple co-op with friends is not so simple.

Agreed on the hull plating, they should give a hit point buff to subsystems if equipped.

I'd be happy if FD would spend a whole major update on nothing but making SC transition as seamless as the first trailer implied.

Been here since pb. For me the big announcement will be they will be releasing ED for Nintendo DS...

Just because you don't joni in PP does not make it a waste if time and money.
I'm playing power play and quite enjoying it, so are my friends.
Also, if you were joining, you'd see how many people are taking part.

I started to write a list of all the good things about exploration, but couldn't think of item no 1.

There are lots of good things about the galactic forge, and the star systems. That core infrastructure, and some of the sights you can see, is wonderful. But that's not really exploration: you need all that for trading inside the bubble. The galaxy map is great for trading, but for exploration? Apart from all the silly frustrations (not remembering settings, route planner ignores filters, route planner does not work in dense parts of the galaxy, etc., etc.) it removes all the interest and excitement in exploring. The DDA exploring proposals will be practically impossible to do without a wipe of the database of where stars are (keeping where you have been would be good, but I'm not sure they even know that, apart from things you first discovered). There is a great framework, and lots of potential but, really, what we have struggles to manage to get to the dizzy heights of 'placeholder'.

I would much rather have had these issues, raised in the OP, fixed instead of.... PP...

I think you'll find everyone wants the same thing, smoother optimised framerates, fixes, bux fixes and more updates. Even FD, I'm 100% sure. Reason why I think it's maybe best not worry too much, and demand ED fix all bugs before any new update, is because the new update can introduce new bugs (so it's buggy again!!) Not just bugs in the new feature, the old features can trip up what's new. eg. Although powerplay does (imo) need CONTENT work, I don't have a problem with FD introducing it (architecture) even on top of existing bugs, because it is (or can be) a strong feature, which kind of cuts across the game and affects galaxy map etc. Fix bugs after, it's OK by me.

I think if they didn't bring in new features, people would complain again they want more content .. I'd rather have the content and put up with a few bugs in the meantime, than no bugs and no content added. Plus, while there are a few bugs, 99% of the time, I find I can play no problem(occasional (interruption sure, but not so bad) .. BUT .. at least I'm used to the bugs! I think if there were no bugs for weeks, then new content and bugs come back .. suddenly you feel like the game has gone backwards a lot. (?)

Exploration scanning bugs are first to be worked on for sure!

I agree FD should really focus on debugging. It is probably not the most exciting task for them but I would like to hug every FD's employee who is brave enough to try :)

+1 to the OP
It would be absolutely great and essential for Fontier putting out an update just for the most obvious bugs.
Very good opportunity to build the basics for further expansion packs.
Otherwise I see a fading future for ED.

All the best,
Robin
