Would love to wing with other half........

Alas I can't as it appears there's another bug :(

We can make private group etc, bug once joined can't wing up, or chat etc. Can see each other on map though.

Interestingly we can't even chat to each other even if both in start menu.

Have sent a ticket off on Friday, anyone else ran into this annoyance?

I had some similar problems when playing with a friend initially.

1. We needed to join the same private group - one of you create one, and then the other has to send a request to join and the one who created has to accept it. I'm assuming you've already done that, since you said you made a private group.

2. Both need to join that private group when starting, obviously, once it's been made.

3. Once in game, one of you send a wing invite and the other accept it. If you're not in the same instance after that, one of you supercruise out for a second and back in, though almost every time we ended up in the same instance immediately. (sometimes only one of us could send a wing invite for some reason)

I'm just throwing that out in case there's something there you didn't do - it sounds more likely it's some kind of bug. Just so you know, we played sitting in the same room through the same router. If that's your situation then it definitely can work, as it's worked no problem for us.

Hope it gets worked out - good luck!

Make sure you're going through all the private group steps; you need to create one, then have them request to join, then you accept the request.

It's currently possible to choose the private group from the main menu without having been accepted to join, which causes a lot of sync issues.

I ve found that if you make specific and explicit exceptions to Elite´s executable file (EliteDangerous32.exe) at your Firewall and at your Antivirus, most issues with friends and wings get resolved.

You can find Elite´s executable file at these default locations (may vary with your install):

PC: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-XXXX
Steam: [Steam hard drive]:\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-XXXX

Are you both on the same LAN?

Try putting one machine in the DMZ of the router and see if that fixes things. Also consider choosing set ports for each machine and editing the xml files so that each machine has it's own port to use , and make sure it's different from the other.

Send in the bug reports, FD will get a better idea of what is going on and hopefully how to fix it automatically in a later version.

cheers for the link Ghost, and thanks for the help as well folks but nothing works.

Oddly enough we cant even chat in main menu before choosing how to play "private, solo etc"

Shame that we cant group in an on-line game lol, quite a bug that...

A shame indeed, this happened right after 1.3 came out, a few friends and I had no troubles whatsoever winging up and enjoying the game together after 1.2 so I hardly think it's a PC issue on our end.

1.3 is a different .exe - try deleting your entries in Windows firewall and recreating them from scratch.

Cheers again for the help, i just tried the DMZ and firewall suggestions, still same thing :(

looks like will have to wait for a patch of some sorts, shame i put ticket in for this on Friday, have to wait till tomorrow for a response from fdev lol
