Oculus PC SDK 0.6.0.1 Beta

I don't get how people keepreporting different Rendering quality and performance. I have tested every single runtime there is and it is allways the same. The only difference i see is when FD patch in support for a new SDK (station performance got a lot better with one patch).
In my opinion there is a lot of placebo effect happening here. That or botched runtime installations.

It improves judder somewhat on most systems, so it is worth using.

Uhmm AMD extended mode DOES NOT work in 0.6.0.1. (according to the release notes) I thought you said that direct mode has worse performance? (and always has had worse performance)

So how is it now worth upgrading to 0.6.0.1 if you're an AMD user? Getting confused now lol

I played for much of the weekend with 0.6.0.1 in extended mode. It was flawless and steady. Direct mode works for me too, but it insists on running at my monitor's 60hz refresh rate which is not acceptable.

I use nvidia :)

It does say that. I spent countless hours playing with 0.6.0.1 in extended allready. The only difference so far is that a service crashes once you leave the game.
@ranix: If you say so. Headtracking ahs been flawless in ED for me since at least SDK 4.1. The only improvements i saw so far are performance improvements.

Don't confuse judder with headtracking issues. Judder is the simple result of the framrate dropping below 75 FPS.

Edit: I use 2x AMD R9 290.
Still hoping for a crossfire fix. Still playing with one card because crossfire results in judder.

Nvidia 980 (x2 in SLI mode) - drivers 353.30 & Oculus 0.6.0.1 ....

Putting the game to the primary display and running in Direct mode works ... except for one minor problem.... my LCD monitor only goes to 60Hz max.

So the game only allows my to select 59.94 ! Hz as the maximum refresh rate. The best solution I can find is to turn off Display Sync. Set the display refresh itself to 50Hz and tell the game to draw at 30Hz ... this seems to reduce the amount of flicker, as the combinations of 59.94Hz, the game refreshing and the Oculus refreshing all intertwine with each other... !

Other than that. It works great. It actually seems more performant in Direct Mode than in Extended mode! maybe the SLI is working better? Just need to actually work properly ^_^

Hi everyone. Who ever tried to run with AMD? It is written that does not work, but all the same? Or continue with 0.5.0.1?

Works in extended just fine. Cat 15.5 beta.
Thanks Thoemse bro. I will try today.
Tell me what settings you have set in the ED? I still play low. Tried medium - the game starts to slow down. I have HD7990. It may need a different set up. Please tell me what settings you have?

I got everything at high except shadows at medium and occlusion off. SS 1x. For RES sites i put shadows to low.

I took some time this evening to try out the Oculus 6.0.1 runtime, I upgraded Nvidia driver to 153.38, rebooted, installed 6.0.1, but had to stop for a Windows update, rebooted after the Win update, installed 6.0.1. Used exact same custom settings as always (I have a script that copies all my files for different displays\control setups into E-D). Using Res 2560x1440 @75hz in Extended Mode (running 2x GTX970's in SLI), and very pleased to see everything is working fine, in part as I was getting a little frustrated that E-D was keeping me from other VR experiences that demand 6.0.1. Otherwise, very little change, performance wise I'm not noticing any difference from my 5.01 setup, perhaps a little more clarity of text, though I can't be sure. BTW, I'm also running my usual custom Reshade settings, mostly to offload SMAA from E:D and to improve text.

0.6.0.0 broke Asetto Corsa for me (extended mode only)

it also introduced very low framerate into iRacing (direct to rift mode only)

as I understand it 0.6 introduces some major code changes that developers need to update their games to work with. I have the best overall experience with v0.5.0.1

I am yet to try 0.6.0.1

What VR stuff requires 6.0.1? I feel like I am out-of-the-loop on new Oculus stuff.

I was attempting to download some of the newest demos last week and they specifically said runtime 6.x was required. Whether you could still get them to work with Runtime 5.x, I couldn't say as I didn't continue to download in order to test. Point is mute now for myself as I have E-D working with 6.0.1

I was asking, what demos? I am interested in seeing what's new and I don't really know where to look.

Try the Oculus site, it usually has the latest demos. I was surfing at the time, following links, so can't rightly say which site I ran into the version issues, though Oculus is a good bet.
