just over 20 LY jump range, unless you filled up the second tank completely.

Question: should I install a field maintenance unit instead of the second tank?

Man, I'd get so tired of fuel scooping constantly. Plus, if you go far you might stumble upon a string of uninhabited systems with unscoopable stars. That'd suck! I think a proper exploring vessel would better suit your needs, if you're going into deep space / will be gone a while.

I met a bloke who made it to SGR A* in a Vulture, so if he plans on doing some core exploration he may be fine. While i wouln't recommend anything less than a hauler/asp/conda/T6 it would be funny to see an FDL roll up to SGR A* There are 100 x 100 ly patches of unscoopable stars out there... be careful.
So extra tank over AFU for sure!................. [lf] As for suggesting the FDL for exploration, its a bit of a pan, since it can't do anything else well enough for the price. IMO, the FDL being a pure combat ship with no other chops at 51 million should come a little closer to the Python in the combat aspect of things. Ok, Python costs 5 million more and fully fitted the difference becomes 40 million, but still, I think the FDL falls short in shield strength, it seems like more of a glass cannon than the Vulture.

So, I actually bought a Fer De Lance with a 20% discount at Bhritzameno at Feynman Terminal for 41,253,632.00 CR and set it up for exploration!

Aside from the slightly offset position in the cockpit, making the window struts look kinda ugly and out of place, its been awesome when I took it to Coalsack and back.

The Scoop fills the dual tank in no time flat and it can go a while on that amount of fuel.

I think my ASP handles heat slightly better when scooping and of course, you can fast-track your return much better in an ASP if you're getting tired and want to make it back to a station. But I like my silly setup anyway! an A2 power plant in an FDL and it moves just fine ^^

Explore in whatever floats your boat. There is no right or wrong way of exploring. I would do it in a cargo pod, but I cant get the thing to jump.

Is this discount available to all players or are there pre-requisites in order to access it? Only 41mill for an FDL is very tempting right now.

I love it. The insanity of it! I had a Vulture kitted out for Exploration and rares trading, and it got some gasps of amusement on the forums too. :) Ultimately, you could have a King Of Exploration Asp Explorer with 64T of fuel space and a 35Ly jump range for about 1/3 of the cost, but where's the fun in that? :)

Enjoy the stars!

Yeah, I got one of those ASPs! That was just too efficient and sensible for me to continue :D

No requirements, as long as you're not hostile to the station. The discounts do seem to come and go according to some Power Play happenings, but they're accessible to all.

Bhritz doesn't have all the modules you might want, but you'll find those spread across the 3 stations in Anlave with the same 20% discount.

Cheers for the info! Have some tasty rep in return.

Slightly tweaked build: http://coriolis.io/outfit/fer_de_lance/02A4D4A4D4D4D3C-----------3748f42i2f.Iw18aQ==.CwBhEYy6YtKA

Is what I would go with, if I were to do this.

I have to be honest, I never would have thought to explore in the FDL...but it would actually be classy as .

Completely agree with your change. I only had the AFM because I wasn't bothering to fly around and tag everything individually, so the surface scanner wouldn't have done me any good for the last trip. But I'm going to try to rank up next trip, so I'll definitely bring a surface scanner.

It started out harmlessly, just wanting some cool FDL screenshots. Then insanity set in and soon became irreversible.
