List all "useless items" in shipfitting and game mechanics

OK come at me with your missiles and torpedos and I will arrange to swap Shield Boosters to PDs. I will also use my Chaff against your beamed lasers. Use Heatsink + Silent Running. I'll have top Hull + Armour kits. May as well use KWS too before I start shooting back whilst I have no shields leftover. Lets meet in Leesti and bring your Wings. Let's play it out. If I survive then you WIN!

Maybe you're using them in the wrong way?

*tries to bake a pie with my DVD player*

Chaff distrupts all gimballed and turreted weapons, and NPCs certainly use turrets, so chaff is useful.

The most useless items are stuff you missed out Op. Bulkheads, and hull reinforcement packages. The powerplant headshot mechanic means that they're a complete waste of space.

Shield Cell Banks are also useless as far as gameplay is concerned. They would be sort of ok if they allowed you to only pack one such bank in a ship, but the fact you can load almost as many as you like makes them nothing short of a griefing tool at best and a gamebreaking exploit at worst. When two ships meet would it basically comes down to who has the most SCBs.

Could each poster now post their Ships and current Bank Account and if you are Pledged at all. There's a huge gap to get upto Python with the pointless Orca at present. It's all about the Shields until there's more module space but even then I'd be in the mind to fill up with Shields to protect progress. I don't have use for HeatSink/Silent Running as I have fast ships plus I can smuggle without. I also never see enough content in NPCs to need certain items.

I did mean Bulkheads in Armour Upgrades. It's only harder to target the PP in small ships yes.

Lol so now this fail thread is an e-peen contest?

I'll play:

Not as rich as some folks, but all in all not too shabby. At least I know how heat sinks work. That makes me 3L33T.

FDL? Any more in your fleet? 741mil, Deadly in combat. Thanks. It gives you plenty to try many setups without needing to overdose Shields.

Please add to the list. I've come to a stop now as all we do here is find out what does or doesn't work - I do not mean BUGS.

1. KWS is pointless when you get a bounty on you as a Bounty Hunter.
2. Chaff - I never see missiles or gimbled beams on NPCs (only on turrets).
3. Point Defence - can get you killed if you don't switch it off at times + the above.
4. Heat Sinks - why bother when we can sneak into stations mostly.
5. Silent Running - same as above and useless in combat with fast overheat.
6. Heat Sink + Silent Running - never tried as never enough module space to require it when I need more Shield Boosters.
7. Hull Upgrades + Armour Kits - maybe help on small ships but not big ones.
8. Interdictor - most targets now submit causing aggressor to sustain hull damage at a huge repair cost to what it was worth using to begin with.
9. Wings losing same Instances.
10. PowerPlay can be damning and not such great rewards.
11. Anarchy Systems have "Lawless" NPCs. What's the point in knowing that if it still puts a bounty on you for attacking it?
12. Discounts are not turned into profits when trading in ships in full price systems. Huh?!
.
I can't play this now until it plays better. Things keep getting tweaked and we're just guessing at how it works again. Next role: MURDER!

It seems to me most of your points stem from the fact that you do not understand the game systems at all.
Just play a bit longer and then delete this post out of shame :).

Well back into combat into a Hi-RES and the first and only target is (drum role) a Clipper and it fires 4 Missiles at me. So I did a Sir Robin and promptly ran away! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8IkbCeZ9to
So I think of playing by your way and go get a PD and Chaff only my HiTech Station has no PDs where I once bought. So I go for a HeatSink. Then back to the fight (only this time in Low-Res to be safer). Well, this time I take on the first contacts (wing of 3) and try out your HeatSink + Silent Running. There was a lag for the HS to deploy of a massive 5secs and by then my heat was already above 135%. Nearly died, the 1st HS did not do much by then. So I dropped another and recovered to 70%. No Shields left now so I ran away!!! (Deja Vu). Speed and Shields is rather better but the Instance are so oddly random but all odds against what your kit is. Been fighting there now over 1 hour for 120k and seen any Missles/Torpedos? NONE!!!

This is silly, I expected something about torpedoes!

Also, if you don't like getting bounties on your head while hunting for others' bounties, don't be a bounty hunter, go bounty farm. Bounty hunters leave home to pursue filthy blood contracts, roam the galaxy and are above the law. Look at the manual for thew game, it says so. You are NOT Rent-A-Cop, stop it.

Heat sinks are useless.........

My Asp that nearly got fried when it got dumped between a white dwarf and it's nearby neighbor begs to differ.
