For those of you with more than one ship of the same type...

I suspect many people have more than one ship of the same model, kitted out differently for alternative roles.
Perhaps you even have different versions for the same role depending on whether you're playing Solo, Group, or Open.

Anyway, if so, I'd be interested in seeing how you've kitted out the same model of ship for the different roles. Please keep each post related to one ship model and include lists of equipment or links to shipyard configurations along with the description you use each version for.

I haven't done this yet, but I might well do so at some stage.

If they are parked in the same shipyard how do you tell which one you are selecting?

I own 2 Conda's, both for trading but for different styles of trading.

CG Conda - I use this Conda when trading in CG's. As they are always teeming with pirates, this ships shields are almost industructable and gives you time to high or low wake even if you get stuck with the long FSD cool down. The large jump range allows me to travel far enough to maintain high profits after all the close resources have dried up.

Standard Trade Conda - Built for max cargo while still having descent shield strength and jump range. Can easily shrug off a random encounter with a single CMDR or even a wing of 2. Wings of 3 or 4 might be a bit trickier.

Don't park them at the same station

long range trader, rare trades and cg's
Mining ship, umm yeah

I do kinda have to laff, I have 8 ships total and if I sold them all I couldn't buy 1 annie. :)
I don't know how to do that linky stuff or I would. cheers

My beloved Cobras, fastest ship in the galaxy, no fear to be outgunned/outnumbered ever!

Interceptor, used to underdermine at 15 mertis per ship:

Light bomber, used at conflict zone, perfect for terminating big shieldless ships and GTHO before anybody complains:

Miner, 48T, disable the thrusters to disappear behind a rock in silent running (can't wait for a mining CG to show up!):

Silent running transporter, 60T, who needs shield when you can get away from anybody (EDIT: I have removed the mine launchers, which i recently added to by config, since they simply do not work): http://edshipyard.com/#/L=702,mpW01Q0Wg,2-3I6Q6Q5K4s5K6k,07207207203w03w03w

Just the Asp for me.

One for deep space exploration, another for flitting around local systems, I suppose one is essentially a more extreme version of another.

Yeah, I really wish we had some way to name ships. =(

C'mon that cant be very hard to implement, it's just a piece of metadata attached to the ship plus some gui bits.

Python

Trader, 268T, 4pips to shield if you get interdicted, flush the capacitor via pulse lasers at your opponent(s) and FSD supercruise (highest masslock factor in game) or high-wake (in case there is another Python around) once FSD cooldown is done:

Miner version (I need to give it another try since the prospector were broken when I had it):

I'm curious to know if people who use alternate loadouts keep all their ships in one place or just spread them around and shuttle themselves with a throwaway Sidewinder.

Yes, I have ships parked all over. I mostly use my db exp. to cruise between but if I'm moving ships around a hauler with an upgraded fsd and fuel scoop can have you anywhere in no time at all.

I try to keep them all at the same location (Power Headquarter), except if I use some for specific purpose (mining ship parked at my favorite extraction system, trading ships parked at the system where the current trading Community Goal is happening, bomber parked at the combat CG...).

I travel in between location with a cheap shieldless Hauler with A rank FSD (jump range around 34Ly)...better be good at practicing the emergency drop since you would not last long if interdicted (at least, a bit of adrenaline in the process!).

I identify my ships by their loadout, which is displayed in the shipyard. However I believe it works only if you are at the station where the ship is parked...quite a hassle, I wish we could name or ships...
