What announcements would energise this game?

Tell you what I'd really like... Clangers...

Yes really, Clangers.

Little outposts of them dotted here and there, near small moons.

They should have highly profitable missions to bring soup.

...just me... ...okay... ...I'll get my coat...

:eek:

-Armour and hull modules become functional
-PP mechanics are overhauled into a bulletin board and reputation system like the one already in place.
-A procedural module/weapon system similar to Borderlands is added to give an infinite amount of module variations (within limits, no missile launcher that shoots missile launchers)
-A procedural ship variant system is designed so that each minor faction has a slightly different version of a ship with minor differences and unique skins.

-Thargoid playable race
-Planetary Landings
-Planetary Racing
-Dyson Spheres
-Hyperspace Interdiction
-Intergalactic war (Entire systems bogged down by hundreds of war zones and ships everywhere interdicting each other)

The announcement that FD will from now on discuss the next major feature that is being planned with the community. Just like the DDF used to be.

* Thargoids
* Moar Paintjobs
* Walking in Ships
* Walking in Stations
* Anaconda Paintjobs
* Ship transport between stations (may take some time and Cr. depending on distance)
* Zero-G first person fights
* Planetary landings

Just no.. NO!

Why? Because people would shoot them :'(

This reminds me of David Braben's answer to the request of "Wouldn't it be cool if we could have little human repair technicians floating around and working on the station?"

To which he replied: "And how long before someone tries to shoot them?"

Followed by another person replying: "Actually I would have tried to scoop them to sell them into slavery. But shoot them, yeah, that too."

Okay, so on a semi-serious note, here, in order here are my selfish, needy, and entitled whinings (all by design low-impact, and 'trivial quality of life' stuff):

Pretty please!!!
. From within the navigation screen have options for:
i. Return-trip - e.g. plot the reverse route to that previously plotted and take me back to where I just came from
ii. Take-me-home - nominate your 'home' system
iii. Preset Destinations - just like any satnav
. Paid for ship movement - to your current station (the station must have a shipyard!)
. Elite D server status visible on the launcher - exactly as shown on the 'support' web-page
. Allow cargo missions to be completed in multiple trips - enabling smaller ships to compete
. Missions based on cargo-hold size - impose a maximum, so targetting some missions on smaller ships

Please...
. Rotate ship on pad immediately upon docking - don't wait for 'launch' request
. 'Speed Limiter' button (99 max) - to make pain-free docking easier
. Have the black market also supply (illegal) goods
. Ability to select a red (excess mass) destination from the systems list, and the navigation computer would plot a route for you - rather than having to visit the system screen, select the system, and take the 'plot route' option

Elite equivalent of Tribbles that hides in regular cargo as an infestation.

-Cargo converts into 1 tonne of [E]Tribbles and starts eating the rest of the cargo to convert it.

Then they start eating modules unless you manage to get back to base in time.

I had a dream last night that I was walking around my Vulture. Looking out of a side porthole into the inky blackness of space watching the stars dance. I turned around and noticed my cabin was filled with trinkets, posters from my journey, and even bobbleheads!

Suddenly, a red light started flashing followed by a klaxon blaring. My entire ship shook violently as I saw my assailant through the port hole. I quickly ran to the pilots seat, strapped myself in, and woke up.

"Damn, that was awesome" I quietly said to myself as I struggled to piece my dream together. I wish it wasn't a dream...
