possible job for players Salvage and toeing ships. friendly discussion for every one.

was looking around the old ddf threads and saw a few on salvage and use of towing a ship back and rebuilding it basically making it your own
it would need a limit of course such as
. a salvage license as u rank up on hauls and re fitting and selling of the repaired ship you could basically have a track bar like combat trading ect..

. repaired ships back to stock might only sell up to 80-70 percent of value unless rank required is met .

. the system you are in has to allow salvage / towing

. so at rank 1 you could only salvage and repair and sell or keep small ships sidewinder, eagle, f63 condor, reduction on fines or salvage cost.
. rank 2 more small ships hauler cobra viper reduction on fines or salvage cost.
. rank 3 small to medium ships last set to asp reduction on fines or salvage cost
. rank 4 clipper and python (reduction on fines or salvage cost )
. rank 5 reduction on fines or salvage cost.
. rank 6 large ships orca dolphin panther.
. rank 7 reduction on fines or salvage cost
.rank 8 large ships including fed corvette anaconda
.rank 9 reduction on fines or salvage cost
.rank 10 full sale price of ships fully repaired and stock. requires rank of elite combat , exploration , trading
i would like to see this in elite like trading and selling of ships so it feels more like a reality rather a game =)

added ideas -
.a space junk yard where players are able to refit scrap and repair recks there would be a space limit on yard usage per cmdr and rank in salvage
.ability to pilot wrecks back with aid of ship or wing
. bulletin missions requiring scrap goods for service and sale ie we need ship hulls we need old cores ect
. the use of drones to pick parts from a ship so if u want to tow the ship back but want to sell scrap wepons or modules and re fit the ship you could.
.Tow beam module - Allows towing of large "base" superstructure.
Beam cutter, like mining laser but for scrapping hulls
Trading post at the scrap yard for the trading of rebuilt ships and modules.

I imagine this is something we might eventually see. Find wreckage, send out limpet drones to gather, sell the scrap for a profit.

I would LOVE an entire "sub-game" of salvaging.
The X-series was great for all of that shinanigans and your ideas go...... a little deeper!

yup, being a space towtruck operator is pretty cool. could throw in other things, like having to give a ride to said stranded pilot to the space dealership.

The concept is interesting but I really don't like the levelling up part. Those things should come through developing skills and/or better/bigger modules/ships.

Salvage is a high priority for me. I like the Licensing proposals too.

For me the core of salvage needs modules, drones and a level of crafting. If done right the whole system could be used to create unique ships modules and weapons. like stealthy Cobras, or mil spec orcas, Heavy canon, rapid fire PC.

So we would need Salvage yard - Outpost or station to do the main rebuilds and storage at - needs a licence/invite and fees to use.
Salvage module - storage of odd shaped bits of superstructure and hill
Salvage drone controler - Drones to cut up and cut out modules, hull and superstructure or scrap
Tow beam module - Allows towing of large "base" superstructure.
Beam cutter, like mining laser but for scrapping hulls
Trading post at the scrap yard for the trading of rebuilt ships and modules.

Seeing the twisted metal messes I leave behind I would think salvaging a whole ship would be rare.

Would make for a good excuse not to target the powerplant.

I have been advocating for Salvaging as a job in ED from the start.
It should get it's own tool set and mechanisms.
I feel this could be one of the most exiting and interesting and satisfying Elite jobs ever.

You could for example cut a wreck up and sell the metals, find goods and information on board that could lead to new locations. You might find sell-able parts like modules and weapons etc etc.

There is so much that could be done with this.
There is huge potential of very rich game play in salvaging.
FD really needs to do something with this.

I like the idea of needing salvage licenses for certain parts of space.
I also feel FD should introduce bounty hunt licenses by the way.

yes i see that ppl want deeper more rewarding game-play and this could also be supported by the bulitin bored as we need old core missions or we need scrap hull ect .. i will update and fill in ideas to flesh out and develop this idea =) thanks for the support

Or for that matter, EVA to the wreck and manually search it for salvage.

yes and re start the dead ship by bringing a limited power cell for basic travel which would only power drives fsd and sensors and mby air supply no weapons power at all basically power distributor is busted and u need to drag it in on the bare bones systems hardwired to the power cell

start the game living in a small apartment on a random station working in the hanger refueling, fitting modules and repairs ect.
gathering the creds to get a bigger apartment and/or afford your first ship or get a job working on a ship

Love the concept mate. It would bring surgical killing into play (ie don't target the PP, if you want decent salvage). Maybe knock out life support/canopy etc.
