Wow, I wonder what this will be for

It's by the same artist who did concept sketches for the Cobra, Fer De Lance and Adder.

Anyone seen Achilles Robotics in the game anywhere? Are they the ones who make limpets? I've seen Manticore on many of the weapons.

This was posted back in Nov 2014. Looks like it could be a station service bot or something?

This is also pretty cool:

Yeah the chap is fairly all purpose, can carry cargo etc, he's meant for fairly low gravity of the inner drum so probably 1/10th G.

inner drum he says, so yea i guess its a station cargo loader bot.

Oh yeah, I didn't think to check his own replies to comments!

Cool. I wonder when we'll be seeing those wandering around the pads. And if we'll eventually actually see our cargo loaded and unloaded with a meaningful amount of time required for it. That seems like an impossibly ambitious thing to put in. But then that's pretty much true of the whole game.

His Asteroid Base 02 and Station Approach concepts are pretty awesome too.

There was/is ment to be in stations including workers working (duh?) around the station but for some reason are not in right know , if its a performance thing well options are a thing

"Bolas station

Bespoke station Module for Elite, containing micro agricultural domes and foldable mirrors span up for gravity, like a rich person’s mansion in space.

Artwork owned by Frontier Developments."

This is pretty interesting too, especially what with the recent addition in game of those huge spokes coming out of some of the Coriolis stations. I like how it has its own little docking slot and airlock area halfway down the stalk.

Damnit, I've literally just spent 30 minutes looking at those concept arts, they're lovely, but I need sleep !

As long as it can get the top off my beer thats all I need. Oh and possibly pick up bits of droppeed pizza would be handy.

I hope that we will see a lot of bot types in the game, I know the AI was forbidden according to the ED lore, however robot can be controlled by an advanced program that doesn't give it AI.

Like battle bots

Looking at it from an Area51 Reverse engineering standpoint- where you do not need to understand the inner workings of a device, rather; determine its purpose based upon its design and implementation

- zero-low G operating environement
-- thruster pods- minuscule when compared to entire mass. Not for long range use, merely positioning
-- 4 thruster pods equal on 4of6 axes imply great positional maneuverability- not very much directional propulsion
-- feet/legs are not configured for walking/locomotion
-- legs appear to be attachment only. Magnetic?

- Extendable mid section
-- like a construction digger, configured to extend/retract/raise/lower upper section once feet are attached
-- possibly spin as well- giving full 360 access of End Effect Tool
-- likely an arm for positioning the working end in varied and adaptable locations in a region around the landing spot.
-- implies one time usage of device- if meant to be reusable, less machinery would be dedicated to re-positioning Tool, and more would be dedicated to re-positioning the entire device.

- Working End Effect tool
-- not a gripper- no cargo handling
-- not a drill- not for mining
-- likely a plasma cutter/welder tool
-- also on manipulative/position-able arm subassembly

- Upper Section
-- no cargo capacity
-- room simply for fuel and CPU

-Name of Manufacturer
-- Achilles; "Achilees' Heel" meme
-- Meme implies awareness of Weak points, and exploitation of such for personal gain.

Final analysis:
An assembly that travels to a location, anchors itself, and deploys end effect Tool to a location in wide range of area around it. Tool is not resource gathering, assembly, nor salvage. Its simplistic design implies economy of expendability; a one use machine.

Best fit to Elite Dangerous existing equipment:
Cargo Hatch Breaker Drone. Prototype design. Possibly just seen fully deployed (other cargo hatch disruptors are shown tube ready- packed up). It maneuvers to the right general region of a target ship, mag clamps on, deploys cutter to actual hatch location, and systematically breaks the Cargo Hatch
