Too long didn't watch: 11:00+ minutes for full recharge time. It takes ~ 5 minutes just for shields to come back online.

What do you think? Is this good gameplay? Don't forget shields don't recharge while you're not logged in. Waiting around this long isn't much fun, in my opinion...

Thats because anacondas have the highest shields, very dumb when docked, not very dumb in the open IMO

(bare in mind you can fit 8 boosters on a conda too)

I fly an Anaconda doing a lot of combat in it and I find the shield recharge time to be okey considered how massive the shields are in the first place. There has to be a downside to it.

This is more of a complaint about being in a station and doing outfitting and it taking 10+ minutes to recharge than how it works in combat. Although I'd like to be able to quickly recharge my shields while out of combat too.

My suggestion is giving us a shield repair or something at stations.

While I agree that the shields should take time to recharge, I also feel that if you were to fit a new shield generator (or Power Plant) part of the service should be to charge them for you (and also if you have repaired your ship). If, however, you have used silent running to get into the station you have to accept that your shields will need to charge up normally.

Wow I thought the recharge on my python was bad. From what I have read all shields recharge at a fixed rate of 1 unit of whatever (hitpoint maybe?) per second. Correct me if I'm wrong here or if it changed. On large ships with boosted shields....OUCH. Would be cool to have a utility mount that increased recharge rate by 20% (for a class A) rather that total HP. Or even just adjust the recharge rate based on pips in systems.....or maybe I just need more patience lol :p

Turn your thrusters off before you carry out your outfitting and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the tip, that's useful!

On the other hand, I like to add as much power as I can during outfitting and when I lose shields I slowly scale back until deployed doesn't disable shields. I've noticed the shipfitter sites don't match what happens in game if you're on the hairline of power so I have to adjust what I plan out.

Yes. ALL shields, no matter the size or ranking or boost recharge at exactly 1 MJ per second. An Anaconda with fully boosted shield (8x 0A booster, 7A Shield) has 1547 MJ of power. This means it takes a whopping 25.8 minutes to fully reload.

Once the shield is completely down it has to charge to 50% power to come up again. This means, if you are using shield boosters, deactivate them. This will reduce shield size and therefor the time for it to load up again. Once it's back online you can reactivate the boosters.

To use the example above: with boosters you would need to wait for 773.5 MJ (12.9 minutes) to load until shields come back. Without boosters the total shield is reduced to 595 MJ and therefor it will only take 297.5 MJ (5 minutes) until your shields come back. Once you reactivate your boosters you will obviously still only have 297.5/1547 MJ, but at least your shield won't be completely down.

This is obviously intentionally the most extreme setup just to use as an example.

Just give me a 'Shield Recharge' service for 1000Cr to give me instant re-charge if you must .... since i can when docked just pop a bunch of cells and rebuy to get them up to full once online ... but getting them online is a pain

Yea, it actually doesn't make any sense. Imo once docked the power distributor should be fully loaded and so should the shield. If you can repair and refuel within seconds there isn't anything keeping you from supercharging a shield and a couple capacitors/batteries. (even if they charge an additional fee for increased electricity usage or what not)

That is a great tip Spanksh. I do tend to set up my ships as shield tanks so this will be very useful to me. Have some rep

You and some other people seem you'd be content with shields only recharging at a decent speed when docked. Others like me have been saying for quite some time that this won't be enough for us. We want to be able to play without having to dock at a station, or idle in space for 10 minutes, each time the shields are down or very low, and without SCB become absolutely mandatory not just as an emergency tool, but as a generic "chug another potion" thing.

Yeah another +1 for shields being able to be recharged to full at a station even for a price. It makes no sense that they can't be "filled" and also in open, as has been noted before, it's leading to major backlogs of traffic at popular stations while commanders sit around waiting for their shields.
