The very best profession: fish trader.

My old man was a deep sea fisherman from Grimsby UK, from the end of WW2 to the just after the Cod War. I used to go down to the docks in the late 60's to the early 70's every week. Such a hive of hustle and bustle, fishermen, barrow boys, filleters, ice makers, fish traders and taxis: auctions going on, shouting, gesturing. The smell. Ah, yes the smell. Sea, fish and sweat, all wrapped up with that old factory odour, and sometimes that whiff of trawler scent combining the clean ocean air with it's own brand of salt encrusted and rusty metal aroma.
Good memories.:)

Keep up wind of this Commander folks.:)

Yeeeep. My goal now, which I have decided upon at approximately 12:11 AM, is to buy a Lakon Type 9, outfit it well with weapons and good shields, and haul fish from I Bootis to the surrounding systems. On the way back, whatever I can find to make a profit, without using trade tools (they're cheating to me). Right now I have about 22 Million credits in assets, have not traded yet, and only dabbled in bounty hunting. I don't like trading in huge amounts of luxury/expensive items, I want to trade all of the commodities.

What are your weird goals? Do you have any?

Will there be trouts? You could trout all the pirates interdicting you!

Having traded my way to Tycoon I decided a 'Tycoon' would indulge in the finer things.

So I kitted an Orca for 'exploring', and I'm currently on a luxury tour of the Horsehead Nebula. It took well over a hundred jumps to get here!

My jump range was only marginally affected by taking a few tonnes of 'essential' cargo. Wine, tea and slaves. I forgot to stop at Lave for brandy.

I thought I was a bit daft, however rep to you sir for massively out dafting me with your career change to bulk fish trader! Good luck with that!

OP is giving me flashbacks of Beta, when this is exactly what I did around iBootis :)

I don't know about specific goals, but my general intention is to be a pilot who does whatever it takes to keep flying around the edges of inhabited space, beyond the reach of galactic megalomaniacs, trying to stay on good terms with the locals and moving on from time to time. So I just try whatever takes my fancy from day to day. I don't really see myself as one single thing - a trader, a bounty hunter, or whatever... I just look at the missions on the bulletin boards, take ones that look good and let my route go where it goes. I have a major leaning towards smuggling though. I've been on an exploration trip to the Witch Head and going on another right now. In short I'm just doing jobs as they come and building up a tapestry of life as a spaceship pilot. Han Solo, Serenity, etc.

I do like to mess around now and again. I set myself the goal of replicating a Top Gun fighter, and made a Diamondback Scout with a pair of small beam lasers and two medium torpedo racks. That was a huge amount of fun. I also tried out a Federal Dropship as a mining ship (not bad) because I looked at its stats and internals and thought it might be half-decent. So basically I set myself goals from day to day. :)

What? You do realise you're not supposed to play this game for fun?
People like you should be forced to play in open around starter systems or fly a Type 7 until you've reached Elite trader rank.

Seriously though, good luck to you mate. :) I bet some of the posts on this forum make you laugh! Or cry...

Actually, I do play in Open quite a bit. I don't mind being chased by pirates, and if they catch me, well, that's on me :) Either they'll blow me up, or I'll have to talk my way out of it with my low value terribad cargoes XD

Good luck on the fish trading - I actually made many millions in beta doing that, lol. I also dreamed of going down to the surface of iBootis and seeing those floating cities ;-; So I'm going to be heading that way at some point!

I hear tell of the arrival of a new Pirate, stern of demeanour, shorn of all sense of pity, his soul shrouded in aspect of blackest villainy

A few months ago I spent some time up in Alliance space as a coffee vendor in a T6. I'm currently a Prince in Imperial space smuggling in an Imperial Courier. I can just about afford a T7 with some upgrades and will go back to hauling things from one place to another. Not fish though. A biowaste hauler, that sounds like a good career move.

An Imperial Prince hauling biowaste in a Type 7... Oh mate! Where did it all go wrong?

Currently my goal is to stay away from ED until it stops being a grindathon.

One less intergalactic fishmonger competing for OP's market share...

Today's fish is Trout a'la Creme.

"...I'm going to eat you little fishy...."

Aye, kudos to OP and others. It's nice to see people making their own way. There isn't enough cheese in the whole of known space to go along with the amount of whine on this forum.
