Arissa Lavigny-Duval Power Play Cycle 5

Good evening and good morning, Lavigny loyalists. We have already entered into a state of contraction, and this coming cycle is likely to be the worst of them all.

The good news is that we can keep undermining everyone else non-stop, as we won't be expanding anywhere.

This is the week where it is *crucial* that we begin Fortifying Strategically. Discussions in the early hours of the cycle flip will hammer out a strategy all the groups mostly agree on, so we independents have to start thinking strategically now, too.

We have stretched our expansion and our Overhead capacity to its limit. From this point on, any system that is either not Fortified or has its Fortification canceled will enter Turmoil. If we continue to Fortify like mad, our enemies will have free reign to decide which systems we keep, and which we lose control over.

Have fun Undermining out there, and only Fortify systems that are crucial to our survivability.

I will make a Cycle 6 post soon.

Do we have a system that is not fortified to check your theory? - I still believe it's not decided by fortification/undermining which system goes to turmoil, but we can only know by analysing data.

We do know that the ones that costs the most are the first ones to go into turmoil, right now, the two systems that went into turmoil both had their fortifications canceled.

But "cost the most" does not specify if it means "real cost" (with applied modifiers) or "standard system upkeep cost".

Everywhere was fortified unfortunately. Getting players to not fortify is probably too difficult.

I haven't seen what the new cycle will bring, I hope for ALDs sake more than 2 systems can go into turmoil per cycle, 7 of the 8 expansions were succeeding the last time I looked, which basically means 7 more systems need to go.

For anyone wondering why I have been less active in this thread (and am no longer a moderator on the reddit Lavigny sub) I defected from ALD to Archon Delaine 5 days ago.

It isn't something I wanted to announce at the time, I've spend most of my time "herding cats" as some people have called it :)
With us reaching the maximum size there was nothing left to look at to prepare.
The only mechanisms I could see to get rid of our most unwanted systems (Priva, He Xingo) was to not fortify them.
When I heard OCI was unwilling to sacrifice He Xingo for the greater good of ALD I made up my mind and joined Archon Delaine.

It only took 4 of us to undermine Kamocan to 100%, we did about 70-80% of it ourselves. Hudson probably did the other 20-30%
I killed all the ships I could find (I'm now neutral with the empire instead of allied after this), one of us defected to Aisling and scooped all the dropped cargo.
Two of us were still with ALD, and they bought and dropped your fortification widgets for the Aisling player to "Pirate"

I spent the rest of my time in game undermining Hudson.

During last cycle it seems the entire Empire has united in a crusade to destroy Archon Delaine.

I wasn't aware of these plans when I left, and it sounds more like bullying to me.
Archon might be number 10 now, lets get the two biggest player groups (ALD and Aisling) and Patreus, Torval and the third Imperial power, Sirius, to help the federation attack Archon Delaine.

I'm sure Antal will have to cave into peer pressure and join in too.

Aisling is the only other faction that is a threat to ALD.

So now I don't think I'll be back. I'm not a fan of seal clubbing, until PP can balance the number of players in each faction I prefer to be a seal than a club.

Nothing personal to all of you, pretty much everyone at ALD has been great. I've received lots of PMs, and thats made it much harder for me to just leave.

I'm with Archon "Han Solo" Delaine, the lovable smuggler now (don't believe all the pirate propaganda)

Seems I need to figure out how to thwart Operation Kraken, I like a challenge :)

Making you lose Facece next amuses me :D

Just logged in. Info has updated for me already. Brace yourselves...

56 systems in turmoil.

-5,676 CC deficit.

THIS IS LITERALLY ALL OF ALD'S SYSTEMS IN TURMOIL. I would screencap them all, but that would be a lot of screencaps. We have also dropped straight down to 10th place.

Edit: I'm really hoping this is a bug because that doesn't seem possible when all but 2 or 3 of our systems were fortified without opposition.

lol. Well this certainly takes the pain out of Matlehi

Inb4 FD completely overhauls powerplay mechanics so you guys don't collapse

If in fact all systems are in turmoil, we will be eliminated next week and there is nothing we can do.

Stack up your Hammers, folks!!

Sounds like the Overhead calculation included Vaka and Nunus in the total number of exploited systems before losing control of them. That was the worst possible outcome. It also means that our Overhead will not improve when the cycle flips next time. I'll start a new thread soon. I just want to take some screen caps first. At least I'll need fewer of those tonight.

Power Collapse was never given a time table. I believe the Manual said a Power had to be in the bottom 3, and failed to expand for a number of cycles. It never gave a time limit, so they could give us 8 weeks or more to get our together.

The most efficient ship to store Imperial Hammers is the Federal Dropship (5 hammers / ship) - how ironic.

(FDL and Ana can also store 5, but are a LOT more expensive.)

Well, then in 2 weeks, we can basically start from scratch. Maybe not that bad. We will lose the masses though (probably not that bad either.)

Lore wise this is hard to explain for Frontier, that the biggest power certainly is a sidenote in the galaxy.

Seen this too this morning and despite the fact that i don't support ALD i was really shocked to see her drop to the 10th place......
Frontier is this a bug? If not you need to gather all ressource and change the PP mechanic for good cause this is really unbelivable :c

Frontier really screwed up with the exponential cost of the overheads.

Quick question, is the capital in turmoil too? Because we're dead without it.

It's unbelievable how totally untested power play was. Any dev with half a brain would run some 'paper' tests to see what happens when the game hits the expansion limit.

This will happen to all powers unless they manage to slow their expansions by selecting crap systems on purpose to reduce their CC budget (try explaining that to the typical non-reddit\forum player). You certainly can't stop merit grinders expanding and if that happens at the beginning of turmoil, it'll result in the ALD situation.
