I think that's because every system is in turmoil, so we get no money from them. It's just completely broken as a system.
If only it were exponential. It's actually a cubic power series, which builds up much more suddenly.
Overhead calculations need to be linear and/or be dominated by other factors like government, major faction and distance from capital.

OK, I might be overstating it a little, short snappy replies FTL. Hudson never bottomed out like this, but he did enter a -2000ish CC deficit due to overexpansion + getting badly undermined. I think beta stopped on the cycle that would've ticked over for this to occur.

This week I'll enjoy the 400% bonus I have here, then I'll be gone for powerplay, I will remain loyal to Arissa Lavigny even if her power is gone completely, which means I will go unpledged, and that probably means I will also stop playing Elite altogether until the next major expansion.

This is simply a lack of organisation by A Lavigny-Duval Commanders, a lack of understanding on how the system works and rampant over expansion.
But thank you to them. It is a great object lesson for the rest of us.
We have the most organisation of all the powers. The problem is the players who are not organised and we have MASSES of them. Until this cannot be prevented, the system, for me, is still broken.
