(RANT) It's enough frontier!

Okay, okay a bit of stupid wording, but you get what i mean.

Here, this may help:

So we don't have to be afraid of turmoil. If your Power should get near or nto turmoil, just cry loud enough (or with enough buddies)

The issue is that Frontier have a whole storyline quite obviously planned out, at least within certain parameters. They simply aren't prepared for a major actor to be removed from the political scene necessitating a total rethink of where they want things to head.

The problem is that this is totally at odds with how powerplay works (the sub-game they designed and implemented). Rather than allowing true player agency and control over the destiny of the galaxy they have tried to create a system whereby people act out various tasks which give the illusion of influence but are, essentially, meaningless. Unfortunately they didn't predict that certain groups would seize upon the rather obvious ability to totally screw over major powers from within. So, you get what we have here today. Which is the way they want it. Now, I don't like it any more than you... but *shrug* 'reasons'.

Again, not me doing this, but sadly alot of people i know.

In my year plus of playing Elite since Beta, I have never been the victim nor seen anyone greifing noobies. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but rather that it's very rare. Rare enough to the point where using that as an argumentative defense of any kind is irrelevant.

From a certain perspective this PowerPlay stuff is very amusing. And that perspective is 3000ly from Earth in an offset direction towards the Galactic Core in an Asp, having just found a pristine terrestrial water world. Keep up the good work chaps! [How I'm still getting GalNet out here I don't know...]

Let's see......

Frontier fixes a patent defect in the PP mechanic, highlighted by the first power to uncover said defect who could have been anyone, but happens to be ALD due to reasons not pertinent to this discussion, and the OP in an attack of blissful ignorance, throws a spectacular toddler-tantrum at the absolute audacity of it all?

Priceless!

Yes, had it been beta - tested longer we would not have sat with this issue, now rectified. Will also probably not be the last issue that needs addressing: Think of it as a WIP. To however scream Empire bias when the underlying premises that was fundamentally flawed and has now taken the first steps to rectification FOR THE BENEFIT of all the powers, now that right there is nonsensical in the extreme.

This exactly.

Here's a suggestion - don't look at the pictures, and just label the powers 1 though 10 (or 0 through 9, if you prefer to count that way).

Label the major factions "A", "B" and "LOL".

Elite: Dangerous is a lot easier to deal with if you don't let that icky roleplaying get in the way.

It's probably quite bad for one's health, all this imaginersion. Immersination. Hmm. There's really no easy way of making a new word out of both "imagination" and "immersion". I bet the Germans could do it, they're good with word combinations.

Imaginersion. I approve.

Was kinda strange for me to see Fraction that was 1st last week to drop to 10th and now back to 2nd place ... :D

Well, where's FDEV official comment about it?

This is exactly why PP is silly to me.

Totally unengaging.

Totally unbelievable.

Total fiction.

What does player ineteraction matter if it can simply be undermined by a magic Dev wand?...................

Nope. PP is not for me.

Aye, 'tis a silly concept on so many levels.

There are over 100 scanned and surveyed, yet unclaimed, Earth-Like worlds within 500 LYs of the "Powers" borders. It takes 15 minutes to reach the most distant one. So why are these characters still squabbling over dead brown dwarf systems, mined out belts, and a pixels worth of the map that someone else has 'claimed' when they have untapped infinity on their doorstep?

FD, how about the powers begin expanding outwards and making some use of this empty 400,000,000,000 star system galaxy... colonization, expansion, exploration... those funny 33rd century concepts that humans would be engaging in... instead of this archaic 18th century empire building nonsense based on finite borders and limited resources. Its almost as if you want to keep everyone crammed into one tiny speck and enforce multiplayer interaction to justify all the multiplayer concepts you went to great pains to implement.

Defect? what defect was that?

There are over 100 scanned and surveyed, yet unclaimed, Earth-Like worlds within 500 LYs of the "Powers" borders. It takes 15 minutes to reach the most distant one. So why are these characters still squabbling over dead red dwarf systems, mined out belts, and a pixels worth the map that someone else has 'claimed' when they have untapped infinity on their doorstep?

As always Erimus, i totally agree and support you in this.
