Cheating cmdr

FD is know for being really merciful if they caught someone cheating.

"hey next 24 hours you go on the shadowserver"

sure that stops anyone from cheating. haha.

I have yet to be convinced that shadow banning actually exists and it's not just PR-speak to reassure us.
I have seen cheats, not a huge amount I admit but I have seen one particular person cheating and the said person still remains in open despite several people reporting him. So I'm rather doubtful shadow banning truly exists.

It exists.
See my thread about the same matter:

and the image the cheater posted about his ban:

Saw the video. It amazes me how bad these CMDR's are. Even with the hack they cannot kill another CMDR. IMO the shield hack should have more severe consequences. I recorded the other CMDR the hacker mentioned in his video (it can be found where the other video can be found). The fact that they laugh at the consequences prove that they are not severe enough. I think a multiple month shadow ban and a double rebuy hit would be fair. 1 rebuy because he should have died anyways and another for cheating.

I can not see clearly the logic of fairness here.

Just imagining me in Python in dishonored battle against cheater.
Anyway i will lose much credit... for repair or insurance.

Punk-buster or something like that is solution :)

According to reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...d_a_hacker_in_a_python_killing_sideys_in_lhs/

this user got shadowbaned for one week!?! One week!?!?

This is why I'm not reassured Frontier is doing best they can in stopping cheaters and exploiters.

Yes Shadowbanning should be a one off affair, not phased....A cheater is established; the next time they log in Fd notifies them; they end up in a Solo/group instance with only other cheaters. They can then play the entire game the way they want with other cheaters or by them selves...Sounds like the game will even be more lonely for them, than us.

And cheaters would not be really punished, but the game would be different for them and completely separated from the rest of us. Hey, Shadowbanning might even draw more people to be Shadow banned... Doesn't seem like it would slow down cheating.

Ah the old "slap on the wrists, don't do that again, you're grounded for the week" that works......right? :D

It would be interesting to hear the view point from a DEV on this, I appreciate the feedback from the mods, the links to the official FD standpoint on this matter and as they suggested we should get in contact with the devs to take it further.

How do we get in contact with them? I have tried in the past but responses were little to none.

So cheaters are banished to "The Phantom Zone." I think that is pretty cool.

FYI The Phantom Zone is a Superman comic reference to a alternate reality. "The inmates of the Phantom Zone reside in a ghost-like state of existence from which they can observe, but cannot interact with, the regular universe"

See, that's the problem: In every game where the company in charge deals with cheaters one by one, they will end up with a massive amount of cheating. This problem can't be solved manually, there has to be a system that automatically checks if someone is messing around with parts of the game. In this case, there has to be a plausibility check of the shield status and damage done.

I've never seen a game where the manual approach of players reporting cheaters has worked. Every single game that does this has failed to take appropriate measures against cheaters.

Quite the contrary. After years of esports I have never seen a working anti-cheat-tool. Dealing with cheaters one by one is the only working way I know of and is actually used in professional leagues. Tools like punkbuster only catch you if you use publicly known cheats.

Seemingly for a short period of time, then superman (ED) has the pleasure of their company once again..

Frontier have no obligation to constantly browse YT and bazzilion of other video sites in search of cheaters? The correct procedure is to report such cases via in game Report option and then they'll looked at and dealt with accordingly.

We would like video of them being dealt with accordingly. :(

All this 'FD are dealing with hackers and cheaters" lark is shown to be ineffective if people know they will be caught but still don't care about the consequences. Bad design led to bad cheating and now bad intervention. Bad, bad, bad.

the fact that he is jumping 100LY should be easy to spot server side. 30.53LY is the absolute MAX a stripped down python can jump. should have been an easy tell. which nobody would run. how hard would it be to have a max LY jump identifier server side for every ship type to raise flags. i doubt its the first time he has ever jumped way farther than he was able to. and players still had to report it
