Regarding DB scaling, which features' further development is currently bottlenecked by the database?

This gave me a good chuckle.

NPC 1: "I'm not taking him on! He is an Elite explorer!"
NPC 2: "Yeah, but he has a harmless combat rank".
NPC 1: "Yeah, but Elite explorer! No way i'm messing with him. He might use his scanner or something!"

Hmm, he said "not over... above". Meaning if you have Elite explorer rank, you can get interdicted by Elite combat rank ships, even in high security systems.

If your highest rank is, say mostly harmless/aimless, you can get interdicted by, say, Novice in high security and Master in low sec / anarchy. (the actual levels are not accurate, just examples to demonstrate the mechanics)

If I understand correctly that is.

Re the number of stars visible in the galaxy map: I note that if I'm using one of the filtering options (e.g. show only types O and B), then this seems to happen *after* the limitation of the number of stars.

E.g., close in to the core, if I have a restrictive filter I am only able to see 0, 1 or two stars - but there are others that would be on screen if I were able to see more than a small cube around my cursor.

Is this necessary?

Yeah, those won't be getting answered in this feature. ;)

They need to be.

Look at the current posts on the subreddit and the forum. Your core player base is simply stopping playing. You might be selling copies but if your core community is splitting or stopping playing then you have a problem.

Hey Zac, glad to see Frontier are taking some positive steps with communications. +Rep to you sir.

I would be very happy to see more of these - hopefully you (collectively) will not shy away from answering some of the tougher questions as well ;)

I suspect many of my core concerns are covered by NDAs, but I am curious to know what the devs think about the state of Powerplay currently:

  • Do you consider Powerplay to be a more or less completed feature?
  • Now that you have seen Powerplay "in action" for a few weeks is it working more or less as you expected/intended?
  • How much further iteration do you envisage happening on Powerplay?
  • Are you considering any major changes to Powerplay, or will we see only minor tweaks?
  • Will we ever see greater integration between Powerplay and the pre-existing background simulation/minor factions?

You misunderstood it. They don't interdict if they are "too strong" for the player. So conversation is:

NPC 1: "Let's get him!"
NPC 2: "But we're harmless and he's Elite combat".
NPC 1: "Too late, interdicting!"

Hello and thank you Zac. This is a great step towards regaining players' trust.

I'm not fully satisfied with answers to Have you downgraded the graphics in version 1.3? question as it avoids some points raised, but I will take it as it is.

Once again, thank you.

Thanks Zac, I have a question. Will smuggling (and I dont just mean mission or imperial slaves) ever be more profitable than A to B trade grinding. I ask because this was out lined by the DDF and agreed (now in the DDA) and still has not happened.

I think we don't really need answers as to WHEN. Well, at least I don't.

The real question is WHAT. Zac, what are the priorities?

I would think that you can divulge a little information about the things that are already in construction, and say have above 80% chance that they will be in the next few feature updates. We don't "demand deadlines", just want to see where, what direction are you going right now. (not planning to go, but the actual things that are in the "forge" right now, the things that are on the screen of the devs right now, the things they are coding towards at this very moment)

The reason for this is simple. With the last few surprise updates you've done/announced (PP and CQC) you've taken a up very different path to what the most of those who expect any direction were expecting. (according to the posts I've read and in my own opinion)

"something is coming, we are very excited, but can't tell you what or when" sounds like marketing talk for "we're working on something you won't like when it comes out" or "it's not anything we agreed on doing"

Nice to have an official Q&(hopefully)A thread. On that note I was wondering if the new CQC will be implemented into the current game, or if it will be a seperate mode to be chosen at the main menu?

Personally I would like to see it in the main game, and not as an option to choose. This would potentially add more things to do in the galaxy we currently have. Which aside from planets and stations is remarkably devoid of things to see.

Say, do you have any plans to improve the friends and group system?

Right now it's very frustrating because:

1: A group always have the name of the group founder instead of an actual group name
2: ONLY the group owner can invite people to the group

Hi Zac, Is there any further development happening on the stellar forge? For instance, are we likely to see any other naturally occurring phenomenon in game?

Thanks Zac! Glad to see that good work is being done with communication with player base. Congrats for you and the Dev to take time to answer our questions ;)

I have a question and it concerns the Unknown Arterfact, how many hints have been given about it and is it possible to still find them now for example one hint is in a galnet article that was player made?

We’d love to make this a regular feature, so if you have any more questions please reply to the thread.

Thanks Zac!

The network code and instancing mechanics have been since day one a constant source of frustration for many players, and it has a serious potential of alienating a large section of the player base, current and prospective:

Are you guys planning in addressing this topic a bit more explicitly with the community? I.e. is the current peer to peer code and problems here to stay? Are you giving any consideration for some kind of server side architecture even if it is a compromise hybrid structure with peer to peer and some "SuperNode" servers to handle high traffic areas for example? Any specific and tangible improvements to peer to peer that may be coming and that we should know about?
