Does anyone find Hi-intensity combat zones a 'grind'?

If so, then I'll buy you a pint and tell me your secrets!

Every time I fight in a CZ my heart rate goes right up.
Trading, explorer, Hi-RES all that stuff I do whilst working from home and/ or watching the cricket.
But Hi-I CZ's get my absolute full attention!

Just docked with hull in tatters, no ammo, a bucketload of bonds and a big grin :)

If any pilots do grind' their way through a HiI CZ whilst watching Netflix... then fair play, FWIW you have my respect!

There is no grind in elite , just your job if you dont like your job in space get another one.

The only issue with the war zones is they are far , far , far too easy

The thing I like about CZ's is there's very little waiting for targets to appear, unlike the RES's or Navs.

but it's a shame there isn't any kind of actual goal in the CZ's, It's just endless combat, no capital ship or other main target to destroy.

The issue for me that the NPC's aren't a challenge (I'm in a vulture) and it's just constant waves with no variety. You could sit in one till the end of time and nothing changes.

I don't find any of it a grind, I was more referring to, at least for me, the challenge of CZ. But if your ship and skills are such you find it easy then fair play, I'm impressed!

I have to agree with what several people have said already.

- It's tedious. Plowing through endless waves.
- It's (mostly) easy. This is mainly because you are fighting 1 enemy at a time, and they rarely team on the player unless provoked by direct hits.

I was hoping for some actual objectives and the ability to "win an individual battle" as part of the system-wide war.
Think back to the original Capital ship trailer;

It's a grind until you get jumped by a wing while engaging an Anaconda. Then it's a challenge to escape and return, where it becomes a grind again.

They need to give multiple goals; why is a CZ there? What are they fighting over? How does one side win that conflict and eventually the war?

It needs a reason to be happening and a way for players to get a sense of accomplishment as well as monetary reward for completing things.

For instance: if a combat zone has a Capital Ship or Station (private station, so it doesn't interfere with others) in it, your first task could be to target interceptors and attain space superiority. Each ship destroyed increases your "superiority" bar, each friendly ship lost decreases it. This makes helping teammates as important as killing enemies.

Once that job is done, maybe you need to escort some friendly ships armed with torpedoes in to cripple the station, or drive off the Capital Ship.

It gives reason and accomplishment, and if it can be seen to directly impact system control (which should have am actual, obvious, visual and gameplay effect), all the better.
