Feature Request: Hotkey for Kill Warrent Scanner

I think it would be nice if Frontier allowed us to hotkey much more stuffs. Period.

For turret user, a hotkey to switch from "forward fire" to "fire at will" to "target only" would avoid a lot of fines.

A hotkey to switch to predefined power pip situations (juggling with the cursor keys in a hurry is a recipe for "Y U NO PEW? oh wait, no pip to WEP)
 
If you have any coding experience at all, Autohotkey will let you assign a hot key to the series of key presses that sets power how you want it.

But I'd love to be able to set hot keys for all functions. I wouldn't use them all, but nice to be able to test skill and planning by using as many functions in battle as I can remember, rather than being constrained by the UI.
 
The mechanic for using the KWS requires you to hold the key down while the scan takes place. Are you happy to use one hand to hold a keyboard button down, while steering/firing with the other?

Hot key would be nice, but in the mean time I do this:

Fire group 1 - 1 = primary weapons, 2 = secondary weapons
Fire group 2 - 1 = primary weapons and scanner, 2 = secondary weapons
Fire group 3 - 1 = Scanner, 2 = secondary weapons

Assign a hat on joystick to fire group select, (this does have a hot key).

Go to fire group 3 to start scan. Switch to fire group 2 to fire. Switch back to 3 to stop firing.
As long as you don't release the trigger the scan is not interrupted.
 
uh that would not work for me my right hand is quite busy in a fight :D but since i have the them in a fire group i just need to keep pressing one mouse/joystick button/trigger which isn't that hard.
 
Agree. Ed need more khotkey options like for kws, limpets (3 separate binds), panel tabs (for example go directly to modules tab) simple little tweets but brilliant for Voice Attack use.
 
Yup, for some reason we can keybind Chaff and Heatsink Launcher but we cannot keybind:

-Scanners
-Weapons (Mines, Missiles)
-Limpets

-Are scanner restricted because of the need to hold down the button? Why not just have a button for ACTIVATING it , why the need to hold it down

-Mines, like chaff are mainly a deterrent or defensive option, why have those locked to a fire button and not being able to link certain weapons to a hotkey?
 
I like the way the groups are arranged. The added complexity of having to select a firegroup that includes some of your weapons and kws or just weapons and just scanners makes for a more personal set up and leaves even the best with the chance of getting it wrong.

If it's really troubling you put weapons on trigger 1 and kws on trigger 2.

Yeah. I stopped using them a long time ago after too many incidents where I opened fire on a clean target. I accept it's pilot error but having a function that can only be mapped to a trigger is a nuisance. The extra bounty cash was not worth the hassle and the risk.

Brilliant. I never thought to put them on a the other trigger. Now I like them too. Which is good because now your not the only person that actually thinks its a good idea.
