I think it would be confusing and unimmersive.....people come in all varieties and sizes...always have...always will. I don't think the game needs any character stats by any means it really doesn't....but creating a look and gender for a character that has first person elements where you will run into other players is a must. Or are we supposed to wear our flight suits with helmet everywhere? I would think it would be kind of hard sipping a drink at the bar through a spacesuit not to mention getting contracts when there is no face to face because everyone has to wear a spacesuit at all times for some inexplicable reason......

The idea, again, would be to have a flight suit and a casual suit. Then you can drink your beer without it pouring on your helmet glass!

I have absolutely no interest in going walkabout, and no interest in character creation either.
I know who I am, and don't give a monkey's how I look - I simply want to name my ship!

this all will come the same time our character will level up, and gain new ability/skills on the go.

on lvl 99 is the highest, you will be able to craft new spaceships, and send killer drones to go bounty hunting.....

I'm surprised on how many people dislike expansions. Of course, it doesn't mean that I like them either, but it's strange when the majority of people dislike major updates on games, such as planetary landings, etcetera.

Disliking one idea is not a blanket dislike of expansions. People will like the expansions that they, personally, feel adds more to the parts of the game that they currently play or later want to play. I don't care about drinking space beer in space diners or walking around the space station looking hot in a space Princess Aisling lookalike costume like every other space girl.

Yes that's fair enough...to each their own....everyone's opinion is valid to be sure. I am a little surprised that character customization is as unpopular as well but it appears I may be in the minority so is it something that I would be terribly upset over? No, not really, but I feel if they don't have implement customization at some point then they should nix any walking around outside of spaceships also.

People in this thread have said it just the same way as you, but from a different angle. Appearance will come when we can actually do things outside our ships. The EVA expansion, etc. Until then I don't think it's at all relevant to the game. There's just more fundamental things that could be improved and developed within the current game such as improved piracy, networking, more engrossing and involved mission arcs, better naval ranking systems, the list goes on. I have never, will never do anything in the piracy field, but I still think it's rather more fundamental to Elite than station hangouts.

And this I agree with....I also think other features (namely all the ones that were in FFE that are not even implemented in this game yet) need to come first, so it appears we do have some common ground. My position was for all the people that voted never....I just find that surprising is all.

In my opinion they have to add it if we are going to be able to leave our ships. Can't just have clones everywhere in what is supposed to be an immersive sim.

They need to do the character models and faces anyway if they mean to actually have any NPCs in the game.

We don't need it yet though... I voted some time next year.

Appearance only though.... I see no need for RPG stats.

I think this is one of those situations where not showing is better then trying to depict something that will never match up to expectations. I never manage to get an avatar just right. And just seing the suit of the avatar works better.

ofcourse if walking around in stations are implemented, then avatar costumization will have to be implemented. But I can live without walking around in stations. It's better as it is now, with no cut scene in the game at all

Character creation is useless until you can get out of the ship, so if it is ever going to exist it will be some way off in the distant future.

When/if they implement customization they should really look at ESO.....character customization is imo one of the things that they actually did quite well.

In the ED universe, variety is not the spice of life, it is a banned narcotic substance.

Stations: All built by the same company. Therefore they should all look the same.
HUDs: All built by the same company. Therefore they should all look the same.
People: All cloned from the same genetic sequence. Therefore they should all look the same. (why not?)

Honestly, right now I'd take anything that would inject a bit of personality, customisation, variety, creativity, etc, into the game. But tbh, I don't see a character generator coming soon or otherwise. It doesn't fit the 'style' of ED for the reasons mentioned above. Not that I agree with those reasons. Those reasons are boring and bogus.
