Are RES sites no longer any good for BH?

about 90 minutes. ( 60 for fight and 30 for restarting instance... )

Doesnt this mean, that there is something wrong with how those RES sites work right now? I mean 1/3 of gameplay is just reseting instance.................i dont know really.

You will always get that guy who has ground out hundreds of hours for perks.
Dont base your game on theirs, it's not realistic.
I play a lot and don't get any where near this amount.
If I can make 2-3 mil an hour I am happy.
14 mil after 90 minutes..... Don't believe it. ( The word used was " about " 90 minutes )

If you don't see a lot of npcs in an RES area, just hang around and fly for a while. They seem to gradually spawn in now, and the longer you're there, the more intense it becomes. Within about 10 min or so, it should be at full steam with multiple wings of system defense and targets going at it.

That's been my experience too. Initially only a few vipers, then some clippers and dropships, and about half an hour in the pythons start to arrive. One important thing is to keep moving and watch the black for lasers in the distance as NPCs fight each other. A lot of ships will jump in outside of scanner range and if you stay put you'll never see them.

I believe it allows players to really follow their career paths.
Its a good move.
I am sure other factions will offer similar viable bonuses for mining etc.
I was getting so tired of just trade runs for days as it was the only viable way to make any real money considering the high prices of the bigger ships.
Just on a Python, the power gen is $50mil , that has taken me a very long time to save for and I am still not quite there yet.

Just count from 5 res sites all rich metallic but 1 courier and a few mad vipers lol I'm in the zeta horologii system, empire space, kinda annoying, but I'll take all the advise and just be paintent and I always head to the fire at distance always adders and Eagles :/

How do you reset an instance? SC out and come back to same RES?

all the high RES ive visited so far (admittedly only just started so 5-6) are totally empty when i drop - then slowly fill with npc ships but almost all sidewinders and small, low bounty ships. Nothing bigger than cobra (and those are rare too).

do you need higher combat rank before bigger ships show up?

traded my way up to python and fighting sidewinders for 300-400k credits an hour seems pretty bad compared to 4M credits/hr trading.

definitely not looking for it to be equal or even close - change of pace earning CR is what i wanted - but order of magnitude lower seems borked. Was hoping maybe 50% less but different change of pace, kinda like mining which i now enjoy

For some reason I get imperial clippers All. The. Time. I'm going to end up running loadouts and tactics exclusively for combatting clippers with how often I run into them.

Fortunately they tend to price at a good 90k-95k, so almost 200k per pop after ALD's bonus.

Because all the cool space hipsters farm RES just for lulz, right?

They have been changed.

As a cmdr who's spent a lotta time BHing, I have to say I actually like the new version. There's a lot more varience. You get a lot more awful instances but you get a lot more awesome one's too, and the enemies have more variety and higher skill.

I've found that on average I make more money in the new one's too since even a viper can bring in 60k or more.

It is more tiresome to find a good instance, however. I don't mind this so much since I've mostly been flying my little DBS, which makes even lame instances good fun, dogfighting with high ranked smaller craft.

If you tire of it, go hunting in supercruise in an anarchy system, that can bring in a lot of credits too while also allowing you to pick your fights a bit more (obviously, remember to bring your Frame Shift Drive Interdictor!)
I get the gist of your response but how can get get a lot more bad ones and a lot more good ones? You're in effect saying you get a lot more instances overall. That's completely up to the user how many times they exit to main menu, or exit the site and re-enter.

Do you mean there's not much middle ground, that it's either really bad or really good? I've found that it's rare to get a busy site with large ships. It's more common to get a slow site with big ships or a slow site with small ships than a busy site either way.

Since the anaconda has been removed from RES sites, it's not be nearly as interesting.

It's also interesting that no one is complaining about reloading the instance to get the desired ships, an obvious exploit, while the shields and other things considered to be exploits (trading using wings to avoid that last leg from the nav beacon) were constantly being berated.

I can't say I would know, I pop in, sometimes more worthy than others.
I'm not gonna spend time joining / leaving / joining just to max profits though.
That just seems lame.
If I have to kill "x" amount of pirates in a system with a high res then I'm just gonna take them as they come. More value than chasing "sources". Or even interdictions.
And you can always stick around until things get a bit spicy, which they can do of late. At least for me in my jack of all trades ship.

No, not to max profits, but I am gonna spend time joining / leaving / joining to get the bigger and more challenging ships. I have an A-rated Anaconda, I'm not gonna spend my time shooting at sidewinders. That just seems lame.

Really?

Lol

Let's see: Would I rather fight a sidewinder or would I rather fight a pimped Python?

What would you choose?

Yes, myself as well. I'd rather tango with the Python.

How do I get myself a Python to attempt to attain even a semblance of a good fight?

Yes again, I am forced to reset the instance again and and again and again and and again and once more again just to get a relatively decent spawn, and this in what is supposed to be a HIGH intensity RES.

If I'm lucky I get to do what Elite should be providing as a matter of course: Engage in fun combat in an asteroid belt against halfway decent opponents. Too bad that it takes an inordinate amount of teeth pulling just to find these halfway decent opponents.

And the kicker?

When we do 'game the game' in an attempt to establish a good instance, which should be provided in a matter of course but is not, then we are branded with the 'cash-farming' tag?

Tell you what, its all about the fun. The cash is a by-product. I for one really do not need the cash - I have too much already. I do however need the fun-factor that dogfighting in an asteroid belt provides. Question is, why can I not get it as a matter of course. Why should I be resetting instances for half-hour at a time?

Please FD, either get the spawns right or move CZ's into asteroid belts. That would satisfy my gameplay needs as well.

Exactly this. Repped.

I even filed a bug report - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=162479
