I want to ask you about the Vulture.

For every bounty hunter, pirate, terrorist/psycho or anyone who is involved in combat, PvP and PvE, I have a question.

How do you rate the Vulture for combat?

I myself find Vultures to be the most dangerous opponent in combats. This is because it has everything a fighter needs: Shields, Armour, manouverbility, decent speed, good 'gliding', excellent firepower and ofcourse enough power to supply it.
No matter what ship I fly and fight against, let it be a Viper, Courier or a Dropship to a FDL, the Vulture was always my harderst opponent in PvE and PvP.

So I want to ask what you think about it?
Leave your opinions below about wheather it is strong, weak, too strong, too weak, unique, weird or a rainbow unicorn by itself.

Greetings!

It's definitely lacking in the speed department and will frequently have trouble catching up to more nimble opponents who decide to leg it. If things get hairy it may also have trouble running away itself. Otherwise I agree, it's a nice ship, especially given it's relatively low price.

I can only speak about PvE, but when I'm in my Vulture, I'm not afraid of anything. The wings of 3 Condas lurking in signal sources? Make my day, punks. Wing of 8 pirates in various ships*? I've got you outnumbered 1 to 8. Conflict zones? Bring it. Situations that would make me think long and hard if I were in my sexy lil Courier, or sexy bloody great FDL or Clipper, I'll just dive in while flying my Vulture.

Honestly, I think they're pretty OP.

*Just remembered the one thing that does drive me straight back into SC; a wing of 6 or 8 (I never hang around long enough to count them) Vultures.

I picked up my first Vulture yesterday and the fixed class 3 beam lasers certainly make mincemeat out of anything I've come accross. Now I'm not a great combat pilot and my aiming is terrible (so take the next bit with a pinch of salt), but so far the hardest NPC I've had to fight in my Vulture... is a Vulture.

Seen from a conda point of view, when i run into a vulture(ai):
-I know this will hurt abid more then a Cobra and less then a Clipper.
-Bigger then most other fighters so tracking guns will hit it easier.
-I know it does not have anuff power, so a compromise would have to be made, either on the offensive or defensive side.

I have one parked somewhere i fly from time to time. pretty handy craft and cheap.

Are you saying you take 3 "Condas" on at the same time in your Vulture?
Wow..Im impressed. I thought I was doing well taking on and soloing an Elite conda last night myself...had to use 8 chaffs and a couple of shield cells, but i couldnt imagine trying to take on 3 of these guys...matter of fact, mine was in a conflict zone so this conda was decked out in military gear...but taking on three of them...Im betting you got some good fishin stories too ;)

It is indeed great in battle, and also the most boring ship to fly in the game due to its "easy mode" combat skills. I quit Elite shortly after getting a Vulture out of boredom, and sold it immediately upon my return. Won't fly one again.

He's not exaggerating. Usually the 3 Anacondas in signal sources are NOT Elites, and as people have mentioned Vultures are essentially easymode.

It really is that easy to use — Just max out shields, power distributor and slap on 2x class 3 pulse lasers. Hold down trigger while targeting power plant and facing their general direction.
I sometimes use a Vulture to farm RES or Combat Zones, while loosely watching a youtube video on my second monitor.

I enjoyed my Vulture, as it was a very effective ship, but honestly only having two hard points made it a bit boring for me. That is partly my fault for equipping both with pulses, but still I prefer to have more toys and options in combat.

I am now flying a Python and love it. I suppose it just fits my playstyle better.

As for NPC Vultures, I find them to be rather easy targets, they just take a little longer due to having more shields.

The Vulture is the ultimate dogfighter.

Its extremely manouverable, only surpassed by the eagle, poweful shield and it has amazing firepower for a small ship of its size and cost.

You will shred small ships easily, and with its extreme agility and a bit of skill, you can get of big ships tail and keep out of theirfiring arcs while pounding them with those 2 large hardpoints until they are dust.

Its drawbacks are its lack of top speed (its hard to catch escaping fast targets, and hard to run away if you bite more than you can chew), and some lack of power for its big guns if you outfit it with too much power consuming modules.

I think this is right, did it from memory but I haven't changed anything on it for a long time so I should know it by now :D

Like Phantomm said, they're rarely Elites, and I don't wanna give the impression I'm dancing around the lot of them while mocking their ancestry and farting in their general direction. A fight can often include 5 minutes of kiting one or two of them around while waiting for shields to come back, and a couple of times I've limped back to dock with a big hole in the cockpit (and a couple of times I haven't made it that far). A lot of it depends on what guns they're fitted with too; I fly up close most of the time so if I'm not careful, a frag cannon can ruin my afternoon. The fact remains that I wouldn't even attempt it in any of my other ships though...

VV No worries, and cheers

Thank you :) +rep

I never completed an elite anaconda mission until I got my vulture, and that ship took me to a whole new level. Once you come to terms with the power management, and get your loadout optimized for your style, you are set, as there is nothing you won't take on.You quickly find you are not invincable though if you lose your shields. They take forever ( seems like it in the heat of battle) to recharge. Your best option in that situation is to run, to fight another day.

for me the key fact that makes it so deadly is it (manoeuvrability) anything the can keep an enemy in its guns sights is deadly!

Is it a OP ship for its cost I would say yes 100%

I have a feeling, that part of Vultures power lies in its cost - meaning that people just dont give a damn about damage taken :)

It packs by far the most fight per ton. Thing is insane. Personally I find it boring, but if you want my opinion on it's fighting capabilities, then I'd tell you it's really rather good. Great, even. Excellent, to be sure. Supreme might be pushing it. Fabulous works though.
