"First discovered by Voidsoul"

I honestly have no idea how they work out what you can and can't buy but COL 285 SECTOR ZZ-U B17-3 has been discovered.

To be honest I think we'd be hard pushed to find a system that's not been discovered within 1000LY of Sol. Maybe this is what we should be looking for?

The nearest I think are likely to be above or below the populated area, people either go straight for the core, to the outer arms or to the nearest nebulas.

Also the search in the galaxy map is bugged. When you type in COL 285 SECTOR ZZ-U B17-3 it can't be found, even if you have been there and scanned it (just tested it). Kinda weird. But well that just on the side. Doesn't really have anything to do with the UA.

To be honest, undiscovered aren't hard to find at all even just 250ly out from sol - I took a trip out to Perseus and found 11 or 12 on the way out and back. Just avoid the shinies! Also - straight up and straight down are good, of course :)

It's just above HIP 44676.

Yeah the search is awful. =(

Yes absolutely, now we have to figure out what the purrs are trying to say. They are way too clearly pronounced to be nothing.

The purrs don't repeat, there seems to be no consistency to them.

The only way I see to help solve the purrs mystery is to either :

  • Find some consistency in them
  • Find something that changes them (consistently)
  • Find something that is consistent with the purr's (seeming) inconsistency!

Well if I had to guess I would say it's trying to produce an entire sequence before it repeats itself. So the only way to find out would be to repeat dropping it until it starts from the beginning. The issue is, it's degrading so fast that it can only produce 5 letters/numbers before being scooped up again. This isn't enough for anything. If it really is just random you could drop it endlessly without finding the point of repeat, so it's hard to say when it's worth stopping.

It must have a pattern. Patterns repeat. Keep listening until you find the pattern.

I've now added to the wiki about this find while moving 3 theories to being disproven since they would not fit with what I've found.

Well that confirms it for me.....the UA is essentially a very basic surface discovery scanner since the system I was in as you can see in the video was COL 285 SECTOR ZZ-U B17-3 which came up in all three tests but there's an A at the end of it all, now that A stands for the star that I was right next to ...

That's a good result. This location isn't available for me in the Galaxy map, haven't been there. Does someone have a screen-shot of the system map view? I'm wondering if the Morse is a quick blip-transmission identifying its location, and the howls etc are more detailed info of the system/bodies.

System view might provide inspiration...

If we don't have, I can pop over later this evening easily enough.

Well still I can't get exploration data for it right now.....and still it proves it though that it is what I think it is a sort of scanner.

It scans. Infact, it has scanned the hole system. All system names are known. For the UA to know that the name of the star ends with "A" it must know there is a "B".

Is a scanner or has a scanner is still unknown.

I think/hope it "has" a scanner and will do something when taken to the right location.

I would like for the pods to be canisters that are deployed or even better, collector limpets that retrieves something :)

That's actually quite a good idea. However then it would be expected that the message repeats.

Here is a screen of the system:

EDIT:

Uh this just gave me an Idea. This theory could be proven/disproven by taking it to a system with only 1 star and nothing else. Then the purr message should be very short and repeat quite fast.

Find me a system that's near to that one! I'll try to do it!
