Frontier Developments , come on what was that thing that just happened to me?

I had signed up for Carns Community Goal. I was carrying robotics and I was about to jump from Unjadi to Carns. As I aligned to my destination and prepared to jump a anaconda who was clean sends me a message (all that tasty cargo and I was looking for you). I press j for entering hyperspace and fractions of second before the countdown begins I get interdicted but without being able to submit or avoid (I enter hyperspace interdicted) and exiting at my destination without the ability to cut speed and get an emergency drop near the sun (carns) but also my interdictor (anaconda ) with me giving threats that he will kill me , (I have you now , die victim) and by being clean(him) I couldn't attack him and was also mass locked by him.i had to do enough afterburns and after my temperature went up 185% and systained damage I managed to leave.Soon after he followed my and I managed to avoid interdiction and finally landed at my destination with enough repair costs. This is frustrating enough since the carns community goal doesn't pay much. But my complain to you is since I got interdicted by a ship twice I think that this should be treated as hostile action (and him to become wanted) and I should be able to kill him with a bounty.

Carrying a lot of cargo gets you pirate attention now.

If you jump during an interdiction then the interdictor is dragged with you and insta-win when you get to the next system since you were tethered and the stress on the FSD forces a drop out, unfortunately that drops you near a sun.
The way to avoid is to quit hyperspace and play the mini-game or submit.

You probably got lucky, in my experience the NPC pirate will continue the attack after jumping, a little repair from heat damage is probably less than what the Anaconda would have done...

I do agree though, interdiction should give bounty to all except police, were you or did you jump into anarchy system?

His interdiction attempt "following you" through the hyperspace jump sounds like a bug. Which also resulted in the lack of wanted status.

His ability to keep on chasing you towards the station even after you getting away sounds like improvements to NPC persistency too me! :)

my friend both the systems that I was are corporate (unjadi and carns) and why should he be considered a pirate? it he was clean and harmless and wasn't attacking! I wanted him to attack me to get rid of him.He wouldn't stand a chance against my top fitted anaconda.

I don't have a problem that npc's become persistent but I have a problem not been able to kill them after so many interdictions! (after all I am clean) why should I get a bounty for killing someone clean?

This is a good explanation and i had the same happen to me. Though the ship that started the interdiction should have gotten a wanted tag if the systems haven't been anarchy systems.
I like such persistent NPC's. Slowly they become a bit better which is highly appreciated.

I think that this should result in an of the interdiction because of missing permit.
Nah, the laws of multidimensional physics care not for your trifling permits! Seriously I'd love to see the outcome of this experiment. Then I want to know whether we'll be able to tether Thargoids and follow them back to wherever they come from...

That's a point. If you are testing this, try what happens if the jump would exceed your jump range. From my understanding this should lead to an abort because of the distance, or (what surely is not implemented) you jump and explode because of overcharged FSD.

Both are interesting, the jump to permit and jump above range. Please do post results and bug report if necessary.

I personally think you'd get a massive crash to desktop :D but don't have time to test it myself.

I believe this only occurs when npc ships interdict you as you are jumping to another system. It's somewhat of a bug in that I dont think the npc actually jumps with you but rather is respawned in the same state as they were before the jump but in the new system. I've done this before and rather than "insta-win" it continued with the mini-game. However, being so close to the sun, i managed to dodge getting too close but he didn't and he dropped into normal space and I didn't. So it's not always insta-win for the interdictor.

In the case of a player doing it, it would probably fail once the hyperspace jump commenced (provided they lined up with their destination while playing the interdiction game). Since a player would not be simply re-spawning but actually jumping as far as the game is concerned. NPC's cheat in that sense since they aren't persistent.

Hmmm, interesting.
I stand corrected on the insta-win, I must just be too bad to avoid the sun at the other end of the jump :p

Yeah, I'd like to think that FDev has considered the jumping with interdiction tether and ensured it won't work to permit systems or out of jump range systems, would still be nice to test though :)

It's simply a bug - one of the many introduced in 1.3. Some NPCs simply don't become hostile even if they attack you. I get that on a regular basis with Sidewinders, getting it with an Anaconda is bad. It happens to me after such multi-system interdictions and in normal interdictions.

The interdiction tether not getting cut on hyperspace jump is really bad game design or an other bug. Best way to avoid it is to wait until you get interdicted, kill the NPC and then jump. I got that bug a few times until I started to wait until I get interdicted by the braindead sidewinder harmless pirate (BSHP). Before waiting for the BSHP I usually got interdicted the moment the hyperspace jump countdown started

NPCs chain interdicting is simply sub-optimal game design. I guess someone thought that would make the game challenging or interesting or something, but it's simply annoying.

Just had this happen to me yesterday actually. FSD charged, literally the second I'm about to get the 4s jump timer... Interdicted by some flipping NPC again.
I get the notice that I'm submitting to interdiction and the enemy has a full red bar in less than a second.
Except the interdiction never finishes. I don't drop out from SC, the enemy has disappeared from the radar. Try to follow the minigame, but there's no escape vector marker and no blue progress at all.
Lasted for a few minutes before I exited. Hope my ship is still in one piece when I log back in.

Same has happened to me more than once. I thought it was cool!
