HD 7583

that was supposed to be my first exploration; going to HD 7583. I'm now 800ly from it and tried to plot a course and the comp says there is no plot solution. I look closer on the galaxy map and there seems to be an open/empty area surrounding the star with only 3 other stars near it that I can't reach either. I only have a 17LY jump range in my T6.

Guess I'm going to have to find some other destination! :( I wonder where it will be?

A T6 should have a greater jump range than 17ly. What is the load out on it? Maybe head for a station and dump some of the weight and increase your range? :)

I wouldn't give too much about it. I'm currently in a 16 ly Python and unable to plot anything that's beyond 120 ly. Still, I reach most of my destinations. Just close in on it, and over the last 100 ly there should come a route available. It is highly unlikely that something on the height of the bubble is unreachable for nearly 19 ly range.

To increase jump range put the biggest and best FSD in there and remove or D grade everything else.

A T6 with exploration scanners can make 30.19Ly with the best loadout:

I'd advise this though for the cash you have in the ship.

A grade powerplant for heat management, repair units and heat sink launcher(s) for problems with binary stars and accidents.

Fuel scoop and a good FSD are a must for exploration.

Thanks for the info! Next time I get back into populated space, I will make the changes.

For "best" in this case read "range optimised." ;)

Explorers regularly confuse the two but you should at least keep your mind open to the possibility that throwing your shields overboard and equipping the lightest possible engines and power distributor you can find is not necessarily always the best idea, even if you're playing in Solo.

I agree to that! Many of us seem to feel very safe exploring the unknown in flimsy ships made for nothing but jumping far. If the point of the exploration trip is to cross some vast gap between stars at the edge of the galaxy that may be fine. But personally I prefer flying a fully armed and shielded Asp (and prior to that a fully armed Cobra) when exploring. Just in case that I have to deal with the locals upon returning to the human bubble, or in case FD in an upcoming patch rewards us with new and different types of excitement out in the deep unknown.

Say if I came upon a USS 2000-3000 LY from populated space, I would be keen to check it, but would be wary if I was unarmed and unshielded...

:D S

If you don't have a full tank of fuel, you can jump a bit further (its extra mass)
Just make sure you can scoop at the destination or dock.

Sorry Ive got a range of 18.82 LY. http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70W,mpU0Wg,2-4s6a6k3I4s3c6k,08c08c05U05U7Pc2UI2jw

Either way I can't seem to reach the system.

I also find it odd that when I search for HD 7583 it first takes me to HIP 43447. I have to hit search again before it will show me the correct place.

You want an A-grade FSD and power plant.
No weapons needed, but good shields (and shield boosters, and SCB's) are recommended for the trip back. (You want to survive long enough to sell your data, right?)
Everything else can be stock.

I got to the next closest star and couldn't make the jump to HD 7583. It was 22LY =( The few other stars that are near it were also 22 or more LY away. *sigh*

Now I'm just going to take a left at the next star and straight on until dawn.
