How make videos in HD while playing Elite?

I use nVidia Shadowplay to record 1080p/60 @ 50Mbps.
Considering my PC spec is quite low spec/old, I don't get as many dropped frames as I would have expected.

Videos look pretty good, but I only see 720p. Not sure if that's the HTML5 player's fault or if you only uploaded 720p.

What CPU are you using Morbad?

i7-5820k @ 4.2GHz

Not sure my 3570 can handle 60fps constantly.

Probably not at the same settings, but 1080p with a lower quality CPU preset should be doable for 60fps.

Shadowplay with maximum quality settings (1080p, 60fps, 50mbps) gives good enough quality not to bother with other solutions, it works out of the box is convinient to use and allows you to get up to 20 minutes of video even if you were not recording. With almost zero performance hit. Downside is it has almost no configuration options available, so if default settings do not work for you - you wil have to find another solutions.
Also it requires gtx6xx or newer GPU.
And i think AMD solution should be similar, but did not try it.

OBS is more flexible solution, but it requires better system to be usable.

I could do a 20 minute buffer with my settings, but it would take about 2-4GiB of extra memory.

VCE is worse than NVENC, except on the most recent AMD GPUs. You need a GCN 1.2 card to be able to reliably record 1080p60.

Shadowplay use hdd to store prerecorded data, so no additional memory usage. One thing i do not understand is why they limit it to 20 minutes only...
Also yes, you can do it with OBS, but it will still cause performace hit, so you will need really good system to be able to use it this way.
The video above was recorded on Pentium G2140/8GB ram/GTX670. I doubt that i can record something on this system without hardware encoding...

I've not started doing anything fancy yet, key thing for me was just to get started recording.

Currently using Dxtory @ 30fps, 1920x1080 with the h.264(?) codec; did some tweaking in dxtory but damned if I can remember what.

For the raw footage, I just convert it through VLC

I end up with abot 50mg per minute. May not be the best, but imo it's good enough for fire-and-forget recording.

I've got to say that having just tried out Raptr for the first time in a while, it's come on leaps and bounds and I'll probably stick with it, at least until I get a few more cores on my CPU.
