Yes its that thread - Most Excellent game ever including Elite and Elite Dangerous

Gonna beat ye up on this one. I have 2 hi powered computers for me and the misses, cuz of what I've seen here, started building older ones. Just finished a weak xp machine with a lo grafix card. HOMM, MOO2, RR Tycoon, and others. I've got my mega2 Atari up and running. The big one will be a machine running win 98 to play the older stuff. BTW if you have win 98, store bought or pirated, MS hands out a free key to make it work. As we all know. It's not the grafix, or sound, it's the game that makes it worth playing. :)

Got some of what you said. XP Pro 64 bit was my bag. Never went for a black ed but heard a lot of good.

You need mech warrior 2

We all do

Ever been to the 4 1/4s in Peckham?

Not just because Im a fanboi....but Elite Dangerous has garnered more online gaming time than any other games I used to play...including World of Tanks, World of Warships to name a couple.

Not sure how much time I've spent with E D, (is there any way of checking?), but ME3MP is at 2284 hours for me.
And still counting :)

Jenner

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I've probably played more Skyrim than anything else in my life. So there ya go. :) Otherwise I'd have to say Privateer.

Game Of Life ... no wait, Scrabble .... no, I know ... Monopoly.
Monopoly is "The Most Excellent Game Ever" (and yes, I am being serious).

Instead of an older game I would to add a game that came out this year. It's not perfect but its so damn good and it was designed with the mod community in mind. Cities skylines and its only about £20. Great game.

I'm really struggling to pick one as i have so many, but the game that had me saying "That's just impossible, no game can look like that yet" is Shenmue (Dreamcast)

I first saw it's preview on a VHS tape that came free with a computer magazine and was completely blown away, the actual game completely surpassed my expectations and made an imprint I will never forget along with FFVII & The original Tomb Raider

Most excellent game ever? I nominate the Portal 2 (which was even greater than the first game, which I would put second place).

Agh maybe Bomb Jack or Tempest...

Ever been to the Four Cents in Peckham? You must go there ...

I reject the idea that there is or ever will be a "best game ever" or "best game to date". I love a lot of games, and I love them for different reasons.

So instead I'm going to shamelessly plug a hidden gem from the PS2 era.

Behold! War of the Monsters! A giant monster fighting game!

Climb buildings! Break buildings! Catch stuff other monsters throw at you and chuck it back! Stab them with radio antenna! Special attacks! Cheesy 1950's sci-fi movie poster loading screens!

Available for PS3 on the PS store.

And yes I'm just saying this because I really really want a reboot/sequel.

this is a hard question.

going on how much i played it....,
and also how much i have missed it since they switched the servers off....

i am going to say CHROMEHOUNDS

I've probably played more WoW than anything, but if I had to go for one game it would be the original Quake, and it's online variant Quakeworld.

The first FPS game with full 3D environments, and one of the first internet playable games back when most people had dial-up connections and the lucky few had ISDN or a University connection. It was a great time for gaming
