Will Xbox players be better than PC players because of CQC?

The title says it all....

If PC players could have honed their combat skills in a CQC arena during or prior to release...how combat skilled would the player base be once let loose into the galaxy?

Im betting in a 6 months to a year...if there was ever a competition of pvp skills on mutual grounds, xbox players would reign...

dont get me wrong..Im not a console pilot, I love my PC...but it just makes sense that with CQC being released first on xbox,, it will enhance the combat abilites way more than pc players had when released.

would be cool to have a joint arena one day so pc gamers could battle xboxers

How about pc players having the advantage because of HOTAS and having access to the game much longer?

I'm also going on the assumption that Xbox users were not exposed to ED prior to its recent release.

Besides, they've said that PC players will get access to CQC before the end of the year, so we won't be that far behind. And we can still practise against players in Open ;)

1. Go out and seek some PVP for yourself, nothing is stopping you. CQC won't provide "better" training.
2. As far as we know CQC ships are garbage - eagle / condor size. No one uses those in the real world.
3. XBOX controller < HOTAS

Valid point...but you do know there are flight sticks compatible with xbox?

Yes...I agree...but my point is, right out of the box, xboxers will be better equipt to handle more situations than pc players....is this fair? not sure...but would love to test my skills in a mutual arena against xboxers.

Also, wouldn't it depend on which ships are used? I was under the impression the CQC used unique ships that are only found in CQC (could be wrong but then I haven't been following CQC must as I am a proud member of the PC Master Race :D ).
.
So whilst an X-Box player might be uber goodly in CQC, if they have never gone up against a fully kitted out Python, Anaconda or even a Vulture in open space where there is nothing to hit or zoom behind, the outcome might not be as clear cut as the OP is suggesting.

Flying the trench run on the coriolis stations is great practice for figuring how to use all 6 degrees of freedom.

Im not talking about myself exactly...but a general analysis of the population of both formats.

it only makes sense that if you have a "training camp" such as CQC, it will enable you to have better skills than without.

Types of ships aside...Im talking about combat abilities...to know when to move your pips, know what to do when shields are low...these type of skills are honed faster through arena than open pve or pvp

I'm not so sure. With my combination of HOTAS, foot pedals, and TrackIR I think I may have a slight edge over a console player with a little 360 controller.

Remember....xboxers are from a realm of battlefield and cod for years...I know that we with pc's think that the hardware may make a difference...but the xboxers are born into a pvp enviroment...not so much for pc

As a PB Backer, I can assure you that a few weeks of CQC will mean nothing against more than a year on PC. Plus, we fight in open space more - and I consider that a greater challenge. Nowhere to hide.

But didn't the console users have to have aim assist enabled for the FPS games??
.
Just because they have a little corner of the sandbox to call their own won't make them better players. From what I have seen concerning CQC it is all twitch, I seriously doubt too many will even know what the pips do, it is a flat out race with combat. So unless you want to fight them in corridors I think us PC players will be able to handle things pretty well in deep space.

I would think that fighting in a planetary ring gave better training. You can't remember its layout, unlike an arena. Lose focus at the wrong second or can't turn away fast enough and BOOM! splattered across an asteroid.

Plus, from the looks of the trailer, they'll be wholly dependent on power-ups to survive. There's no such luxury in open space.

And everything else already mentioned.

Debatable. CQC arenas favor a kind of combat that isn't always applicable elsewhere.

Assuming CQC will automatically make someone a more dangerous ED pilot is like assuming being a boxer will make one a better army officer. They certainly aren't mutually exclusive things, but a boxing ring isn't a battlefield.

I've been playing competitive multiplayer shooters and flight sims since 1994, and both Battlefield and CoD were PC games long before they were on any console.

Pretty much this plus PC players have hotas and all variants along with much more play time in general in the verse.

Only thing CqC might do is let console players get a little more pvp combat practice and play catch up as when it comes out on PC it will balance itself out.

Like I said in my OP...Im a pc gamer at heart...hate the consoles...just dont have the dexterity in my hands like i did as a kid.....it would be nice to have a cross platform CQC Battlegrounds...just to test this theory if nothing else.

Well my point is......wouldnt we all have been better pilots with an increase of suvivabilty skills if we on pc platform would have had CQC at release?

It will be interesting to see if sometime in the future we could compete between platforms...for a TRUE leaderboard.

I remember getting slaughtered in Goldeneye 007 as my opponent had been playing for a couple of years and new all the crooks and crannies....Anyway, your remark reminded me of this:

To the dismay of some. CQC is a really big deal. If they screw it up, its gonna hurt.

Powerplay did nothing for me. Added no desirable mechanics or features. In fact, it did the opposite. Yay more grind. Amazing.

Xbone players can think they are awesome. But i see gimbals having reduced effectiveness.

The biggest enemy though is the networking... Because everybody knows how awesome arena shooters are when everyone is spanned across the globe.
