Communication updates

Make sure his game is made on time, and to the right quality is all the respect he wants I reckon. Everyone standing up one after another to shake his hand rings a bit fake to me.

You can tell he's from London! :p

Manners cost nothing... they do not teach this in London! ;)

I know right? Here is the video of the dear leader in question:

I want to see videos of DB walking around Frontier randomly pointing at people saying things like "Watch him..he's trouble..eh?" and laughing like David Brent.

These offices are Stockton-on-Tees which is where I was born! I think Eidos used to be in that place. In fact quite a lot of developers are in that neck of the woods. UK Tax breaks ahoy!

If DB walked in the room I'd line up and bow. What's more I'd spend the next 15min following behind him clapping and whooping.

Hello again,

Thanks for all the comments and feedback.

Personally I would prefer an update that had real information in it and not a load of guff! As for frequency, I think monthly is probably sufficient, especially at this current moment in time.

I know SC and ED are completely different beasts and their marketing/PR styles are different. However, communication is key - more so disseminating the right information which doesn't lead to further conjecture/rumour or otherwise false assumption.

Which I believe ED hasn't done, so far all the information has been pertinent and accurate.

As for the handshaking, there is a certain etiquette to it, and from my limited (world) experience we brits are typically better at it than most (not saying all!). I was once invited to a one day course in the US on the etiquette of handshaking ;)

Cheers,

Kro

It's just a way to show respect, everyone deserves that surely??

Devil's advocate: you can see him struggle with the temptation to micromanage (e.g. how to make the vehicle editor). Every manager I've had has struggled to walk that line, and pretty much the only thing you can do to help is to be a little bit more/less distant when they're get a little bit too micro/macro.

Yeah, Ive had many a supe walk around the office do exactly the same thing, and I agree with helping by being proportionately distant with regards the micromanagement.

Oh the Americans are so much better at the whole etiquette thing than us Brits in my profession. Every time I have dealt with a US firm they have been impeccably polite and perfect etiquette while the Brits are way more casual even with people they have just met.

Indeed I remember in one meeting the look of absolute horror on the faces of the Americans as two groups of Brits who had just met started taking the mickey out of each other, actually it was mild stuff and just a bit of banter, but what passes for causal japes in some cultures can often be seen as offensive in another, even another English speaking culture.

I freelance and often work with US clients. I find Americans tend to be more polite in business matters, however they are also likely to tell you things are "awesome" and "great" regardless, however I have learnt to completely ignore any praise because it will no doubt come with many subtle caveats later.

"Yeah that looks awesome, really great...really great working with you. Could you just change this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this."

I don't think its because Americans are non-genuine though, just more polite and very equipped for corporate situations.

The end of the year and the new year are a pivotal period. During this period, the people decelerate then accelerate again. Between the two, it can not happen much. Frontier works hard, we know
