The Bounty Hunting & Bounties tips, and general discussion thread

Throttle to zero before interdicting. Nice one :)
As it happens I am allied with the station faction so I guess this is why I got lucky.
I'll take it as read then that security ships AND station will open fire unless someone else comes along and confirms otherwise.

Hm, it's been a while (1.2) since I was wanted and careless enough to get scanned while docking - however I remember blowing up horribly fast to station lasers.

Also, if you shoot at a ship with the same faction as the station, it will automatically go hostile and start shooting at you.

With a small bounty like that the countdown timer is usually a few minutes - check the transactions tab - it should have a timer in the top right of the bounty notice. Jump to another system, wait the alloted time - it will then say on H jump in the top right when ready. Go back into your previous system and continue with your game as normal - next time you dock just pay the fine - no need for sidey suicide or anything like that.

Oh really? It did actually say 0H 0M, but there was no option to pay. Maybe it was like that "0M" thing waiting for your power play allocation, if I'd waited 59 more seconds I could have paid? Well dang.

Are you sure? That's not what CMDR Hagglebeard a few posts above says. Only the security ships open fire, according to him.

pretty sure..this is what happened few days earlier found it funny so uploaded it

once timer for your bounty runs to 0:00, you have to leave/reenter star system or relog. this is basically to avoid someone engaging and shooting you when there is couple of minutes left on your bounty just to suddenly find out you're not wanted anymore and actually getting bounty for attacking clean target

Clear bounties and combat bonds list?

I picked up sporadic bounties and CBs from random things and now its clogging up my bounties list, is there a way to clear it without blowing myself up? I like having a clean list, but i like being alive more.

AFAIK blowing yourself up in a Cheapwinder is the only way. Petitioning Frontier to provide a discard-option is another. Many people have asked for such an option already but Frontier doesn't seem very eager to provide it. I believe they never explained why.

For your question regarding damage from interdiction, I've noticed if I keep my throttle in the blue sweet spot for the entirety of the interdiction (as the one interdicting), I will consistantly avoid damage when I've finally pulled the other ship out of super cruise. Sometimes there is damage and I'm not sure what it's from but probably 9/10 times I'll get no damage from interdicting other ships. They don't submit either so that wouldn't be why I'm not getting damage.

Also, I've realized that if I have no celestial bodies targeted in SC, it makes it 100x easier to match the speed of targets regardless of their range. So long as you can avoid gravity wells around planets and such. Unlock those targets, keep throttle in the blue and happy hunting. Just don't bite off more than you can chew.

Yes you will and it will be extended to 7 days.

Been there, done that.

Get out of that system until it expires then go back and pay it off.

I'm not sure what you mean by extended to 7 days? If you die, the bounty is cleared... so die in a small cheap ship and no loss really and you're clear again in that system.

I have have up to 250,000 bounty on my head (ok not much lol) doing these missions, they last 5 days but you can go to another system where you not wanted and get more bounties, all good fun, and if you after bounty hunters even better as your bounty will make them come to you and you can kill them too
You can check on system map where the friendly stations are to land
It's all I do these days, more fun to me than trading, mining or exploring

The random (small) bounties clogging up my screen does get annoying.

Especially as I'm in a Clipper and all the random ones seem to be in Outpost Only systems,
meaning I couldn't turn them in even if I wanted to bother with trying.

Around my main trading/mission systems, I tend to let them accumulate for awhile and then use
a quick throw-away Sidewinder to visit all the outposts.

But I'd love for either an "abandon" option or for some kind of bulk turn-in for 60% value wholesale option.

.
Which is why I think certain station types, like High Population/High Tech or Military should have the ability to clear all bounties.

The new bounty system rocks. Not!

So, first time back in the cockpit since the release of gta5 PC.

graphics seem a little sharper, frame rates are up, still no stutters my end, all is rosy.

Wait, I have no idea about power play and the new(ish) bounty system sucks.

At a low intensity res last night, already engaged on a target (yes, it was wanted and scanned as such), the enemy is a rookie NPC flying flat and level, I'm behind pretty flat and level just giving pew pew.
Then all I hear is the sound of an impact, shields take a bit of damage and my ship gets bumped forwards.
Basically an NPC rammed my ship from behind, then died and I got a 6k bounty on me for murder.
Really? ?
Not even my fault yet I'm punished for it.

I know its a small thing in the grand scheme but its dam annoying, more so that its also meant that grabbing my ASP explorer is too risky as its in the system with the bounty.

Aww! Bounty Hunting is Near Impossible Right Now

I am sure that FD have something in mind soon*, but it really feels as though Bounty Hunting players has been crippled with the Bounty changes.

Its great that bounties persist and all (although this has been easily nullified by pirates grabbing a sidey and committing suicide), but the fact tht the bounty only persists in the same system means a quick jump away to safety forces the Bounty Hunter to become a criminal themselves if they pursue to get the bounty.

I am sure this wasnt the intended behaviour for the devs. Or maybe it was? Either way it makes pirating a cinch now. Pick a system to pitate exclusively. Kill all you want. Jump to a nearby system if you get any trouble or want to be left alone.

Aside from the moral justification there doesnt seem to be any reason now not to be a pirate. Its easy-peasy.
And being a bounty hunter is just not worth the time an effort any more (in PvP I mean)

This is what kws is for. If you think it's worth the 6k bounty to kill a wanted sidey, then lol go for it. But generally if the bounty is big enough it's worth the hit.

Yes, but thats not how bounty hunting should work.
you shouldnt become a wanted criminal for acting on behalf of the cops?

Not all systems obey to the same laws (just like nowadays on earth), cops from system A might disagree with cops from system B.

A quote from Sammarco to ponder on :

Hello Commander Arjin!

I'll have to respectfully disagree.

As a bounty hunter, you are working for individual minor factions. Other minor factions don't respect their laws.

In fairness though, any time you see a wanted status you will be legally allowed to attack.

Further to this, when we get Interstellar bounties up and running, you'll be able to hunt the mega-criminals across huge swathes of space.

When you change jurisdictions, sure you should.

Example: A Russian spy assassinates a German (in Germany), then he hops a train back to Russia. You follow him and gun him down in the streets of Moscow. The Russian police are well within their rights to string you up by your thumbs, even if you have a valid warrant from the German government.
