Got my Clipper... Now what?

Ok so I've had my imperial clipper for a few weeks now, it's by far the best ship in the game for me, flys like a medium size fighter, boosts like a cheetah on steroids, packs a punch like Mike Tyson when kitted properly and has a good cargo capacity. ( plus the engine sounds are cool)

So my question is what do I do now?

It's a massive trade grind for a python or anaconda and I'm not really that fussed about getting one TBH

Missions are still dull and broken, I'm not even eligible for most of them since I'm not elite in any rank.

Mining is just boring

Exploring is no good in a clipper and boring for me anyway, point at object, wait a few seconds move on.... Yawn.

And combat is too repetitive.

I logged in last night, sat staring at the cockpit of my clipper and thought, what is there left that I want to do?

Nothing!

Logged out......

Unless 1.4 brings something amazing to the table I think my Elite Dangerous days are almost over.

I think I pretty much got my money's worth in terms of play time, I'm just sad I've gotten so bored so fast, I really wanted it to be my no 1 go to Game :(

As my forum name suggests, hopefully there will be a reason for me to come back and play again soon(tm)

If I'm honest, I find more amusement on the forums than playing the game.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

And No........ you cant have my stuff!

Take a break and come back in a few weeks/months or when the next update arrives. Personally I just like flying around pew-pewing things in my Clipper, although it would be better to have a reason to do so.

Pirate. Pirate everything and everyone and then pirate them again.

What are the starter systems?

Eravate is the main one. There's an LHS something or other near to that too which is also one but I can't remember exactly which one.

But really, try piracy. It's THE best pirate ship in the game.

All things get dull after a while. The beauty of Elite is that no matter how long you put it away for, you can always come back anytime & enjoy your shiny things all over again, as if they were brand new once more. Future content is promised too :)

Yup, true. My Clipper's parked up at Antal at the moment. I got a little bored, bought an Asp and now I'm about 2,500ly away exploring. It's made a nice change from the pew-pewing I did to get the Clipper and as I don't have another 90mil to max out the Clipper's shields and turreted beams I thought I'd earn the money a different way. Having a nice time at the moment too!

I traded my Clipper for Python after doing some community goals. The CG bonuses really help speed up the process. Also, doing research into good trading partners really helped push up my profit/hr. Lastly, I got bonuses several times a night but doing trade missions where I already had to go to a station that had the commodity requested by the mission. So the trade missions required no additional time and often added 50-150K per mission.

Yeah, agreed. I mean I get burned out every now and then but I still come back after a few weeks refreshed and excited for upcoming releases. Plus in between I work towards bigger and better ships. I'm working on a Type 9 at the moment, got 20mill in the bank and about 25mill worth of ships(20mill Type 7 and 5mill Cobra). After that i'll probably buy and fit other ships like a Vulture and then work on an Anaconda.

OK so you don't want to do standard trade, mine, explore, missions or combat in your clipper. Maybe make your own fun then.

Go get an eagle and play coreolis trench racing with others for a ton of platinum to the winner, have a race from A to B for fun with the same ships (sol to achenar or some other destinations), make bets with other players for particular achievements. flip a system from one faction to another. sit in starter systems and help new players. go to lave and fight the pirates. I'm sure you could think of many other types of entertainment if needed. You don't have to always be striving for the next ship and more credits, if that's all you do then yep you could get bored very quickly as I agree there is a bit of a gap between the clipper and python ship area, but even if you get a fully kitted conda then you will still have the same issue.

Sit back, kick off the shoes and find the fun. It's there if you want it.

@OP, by yourself a DK2, sit inside the ship and say goodbye to boredom. Honestly, I couldn't get my head around why so many call this game boring. I purchased an xbox last friday, hoping to get my ED fix on my business trip, I was bored after 4 hours.

Back on my home rig in the DK2, I could just sit in dock doing nothing, just watching ships come and go, the word bored would never cross my mind.

8 months of flying in VR, and I all I can think about is getting this damn trip over and done with so I can sit inside these ships again.

My clipper is trade fitted at the moment.
I might give it a break for a week or two and maybe come back after that, I have about 6 million spare, I might kit out a cobra and do a bit of Pirating on newbs, might be fun and the cobra is fairly cheap to outfit isn't it?

You'll be back. The game does get boring, like all other games, but there's something about it that makes that period of boringness end much faster than others, and you'll feel the call of the black soon enough

I went from Sidewinder to Cobra to Clipper (with a short try of the type 7 -- didn't enjoy flying a pregnant whale, no matter how much cargo it held).

I've been flying the Clipper ever since. It took quite a long time, but now I'm fully kitted out with exactly what I want in the ship.

So, you've got the Clipper -- but is it upgraded so you can really see how sweet a ship it is? My overall value is just over 80 Million. A far cry from it's base cost.

And maybe I'm crazy, but I think the Clipper does just great for any role, including exploring. 160 tons of cargo space for trading, enough firepower that I can feel

confident taking on an Anaconda (NPC versions at least), and while unladen, it's got a 19 LY jump range (15 laden). I'm currently about 1000 LY into my first long-range

explore trip and still enjoying it [although I wish I could find a few more totally un-discovered systems, most seem to have the main star scanned even if nothing else is.

I think I need to move diagonally for awhile and see if I can find less used routes].

So, what do you do from here? Well, in a Clipper, I think the answer is whatever you want.

When I had a Clipper I turned it into a multifunctional trader/combat ship and just did what came to mind.
In general people create their own boredom in this game.
I have done some trade grinding in a T7 for a while, but even in my T9 I went bounty hunting in USS. Never had more fun.
I love the multi functional ships like the Asp, Clipper and Python, because they allow you to do whatever you want.

Currently I am in a battle Python, but I have some room for cargo too and when I feel like it I collect multiple hauling and pirate kill missions for a neighbouring system. And when I see a good RES I just dive into it for some extra entertainment.

I never grind to boredom.
