Smuggling - hows it going?

Smuggling Tabasco sauce is risky, those commies can't handle our spicy pirate zing.

Soon as I get a trade rank I like Im going to pirate and stuff. I've been bounty hunting NPC pirates and its darn easy
(solo). Solo is very different from open. Seems like pirates need wings of Eagles and a scooper grab the goods? But solo pirate and no profit kind of makes some sense. Highway man rather than Armada?

But as smuggling goes the scooper is out of a job because every black market is on a map. So the smuggler / pirate cross over is broke.

And why in the galaxy (I tell ya :) do the local police pay trade dividends on stolen and smuggled goods?

You should probably not try piracy until they fix it. It gets a -1/10 from me.

Why should they stop when you shoot the engines? Current system makes sense to me ..

Because it's incredibly hard to pirate them as is, since we have vacuum friction (speed limits). If they're going to put speed limits in, they should fix drive mechanics to work with that.

From Michael Brookes, "Playability trumps realism".

Yep. This makes me sad, and I'm not a smuggler, I'm a pirate! Damn this huge-scale, PvP focused crap, Powerplay, all of it! FD are trying to make the game they want to play, but they're laying the bricks so quickly, they're forgetting the mortar!

+1 Nice analogy, unfortunate at how true it is.

The Imp slaves are illegal.
Although the PP stuff says Delaine makes all slavery legal in his control systems, it doesnt. Slaves and Imperial slaves are illegal everywhere they were illegal before if was a control system.

I got over 26000cr / t profit in 1.3 beta. Thats not a typo.

I've racked up millions in fines smuggling over the past week, and usually its been for 800-1100 a ton.
Most of the profitable smuggling routes I've found have very low demand, so the good profits are all gone after one run.

The cheapest Narcotics I've found are at Matucanth, for 8375
The highest price for selling them is at Ltt 9593 for 10700, but these systems aren't close. 2300/T is nothing special when it comes to PP figures. Alisling can get better than that in LEGAL trade one jump away. I would think Patreus and Torval are the same, but I haven't tried any of their stuff.

What sort of prices are you seeing in Antel space, Ben?

I've started to look around Antal and there's not much smuggling actin to be had. I've been doing power play for the last month and havent really smuggled but now I've got a bit bored of PP and want to get back in to smuggling. I've found one two jump run that looks promising form the look of the systems. I'll take a look. Antal is a trade poor environment. I think it may be a case that to make any cash there will mean you have to smuggle. Suits me fine.
