Complete scan sound missing - Devs?

For Joe Hogan or any of the sound pixies at Frontier.

Exploring last night on 1.3, I scanned a series of stars. Until the patch (1.0, 1.1, 1.2), when the scan was complete a ting noise would sound letting me know it was done along with the big blue alert in the upper right corner. This was an aural clue that I could lock onto the next stellar body and carry on.

Under 1.3 this is gone and if I'm not looking when it ends there is just silence. It's slowing me down a lot having to double check.

Is this by design or a bug? I'm happy to put in a ticket, but wanted to see if this was purposely done first so I don't waste anyone's time.

I think the sound design is excellent and the sounds tell me what is going on without looking a lot of times. Great work to date guys and gals.

Same here. I don't know if it's a bug or deliberate behaviour, but it's messing with my OCD. Without that validation of my scanning, my exploration itch isn't getting scratched!

But more seriously, it does mean that I have to check the target panel each time to see if the scan finished or if I drifted off-line and the scan ceased.

I'm going to bring this back up again as there has been no answer to it.

Was there a reason for changing the sound on completion of a scan? It really is unsatisfying now when you complete a scan. No ping of excitement, congratulations or even confirmation, just emptiness.

Please bring it back

I liked the old sound better too :(

Was more noticeable. But I would also like a stronger incoming chat sound for the same reason. Most of the time I miss them using TrackIR and not having the comms screen in focus. Friends think I ignore them lol

I know I posted about this in one of the bug reporting threads when 1.3 was released and I'm pretty sure others did too, but yeah, strange decision to change it (for the worse).

Hi Guys,

We noticed this too just after the last big content patch went out. Our audio coders have it on their list of things to fix and as you rightfully say, the sound is part of the gratification of scanning objects. We'll get it sorted as it is a bug indeed.

Thanks for mentioning it!

Thanks for replying Matthew. I did notice after I resurrected this thread that there were a few bugs for it, but I was concerned that it had been forgotten about as for most of the players it's not an issue at all. However when you spend virtually all of your time out in the void it becomes a very big issue. I'm not (as most people wouldn't) going to pretend it will be a nice easy fix, but if you could ask them to bump it to the top of the list that would be great :p
