Got my Clipper... Now what?

How much does a fully kitted Eagle cost and can they be used for pirating and combat, I want something that can be throw away without massive insurance costs, I wouldn't risk my clipper in PvP, I'm not great at PvP!

Now you change your forum allegiance to Empire, you traitor.

How do I change my forum allegiance?

Bought me a Clipper today, mainly for fun and keeping. I wont use it since im already in a Python and also got a T9.
I like the looks and the sounds. Flys pretty good and boost crasy.
Seems to be fun too, dont really know why ppl take a T7 or what the purpose of a T7 is, when the Clipper is so much better.

A-spec eagles are cheap. You can use them for that sort of PvP, so long as you're either only taking on a total PvP newbie, or don't mind replacing your ship after each sortie. ;)

What are the starter systems?

Eravate and LHS 3447.

The Clipper is great, you can do almost anything with it, profitable trade, bounty-hunting, etc.

It could do with a bit more fuel, and can't land on outposts, unfortunately.

Just don't go prey on newbies, it is dishonourable :) Prey on bullies!

Funnily I felt a bit like this when I got the Clipper and saw the huge gap to the next ship up but I've had it a while now and although I have stopped trying to close the gap my bank balance is slowly increasing and my fleet just keeps expanding! Once I get 10+ million in the bank I wander by a shipyard and just can't resist so I have now a Cobra, Courier, Asp and the Clipper all fully kitted out (plus bought and sold one or two, I nearly bought another Asp last night!). I could easily buy Python now but intend on just doing what I fancy in the ship I fancy that day. If I can hold back my new ship addiction then will get a bigger ship but it is proving hard to not spend the money in the bank, spending is what it is for right?

I've been trading, RES hunting, CZ hunting, smuggling, trading at CGs, mining, a little exploring but really not given that a good go yet. Do what you fancy...

I don't see whats so boring about exploring, i love it! (Hence my elite rank)

I never really tried exploring... isn't it just hyperjump - bong the adv-scanner - then go aim at planets while waiting for the cycle to finish scanning x 10 per system?

Part why I never tried it is because it sounds completely risk free and largely just a waiting game?

It's so much more my friend!
You can find nebulae, if you're lucky enough maybe even undiscovered planetary nebulae.
You can find rare stars, and earthlikes, maybe even binary earthlikes. (Or you could find one with a nice ring to it)

You can go to the other arms of the galaxy, where the view is very, very different and in a way, very cool.

And i don't see why one would scan all bodies in a system, that's just stupid.

There's alot to exploration! If you want to head out to somewhere relatively short, i recommend Dryuae Aip Gi-b D-13.
A stunning Planetary Nebulae at the edge of the galaxy, 9000LY out.

(And if you want some risk, try navigating the badlands while still watching out for those deadly close binaries)

I was going to wait until I could afford an A rated Clipper, but having read this thread and done the maths, I could buy now and be a rated by this time next year. Is it more fun to fly then a T7? I downsized to a T6 because the T7 made me cry :D

Take a break and come back in a few weeks/months or when the next update arrives. Personally I just like flying around pew-pewing things in my Clipper, although it would be better to have a reason to do so.

This. I am in your position. Got my clipper. Got a courier too (even cooler if you own an oculus Rift DK2) and now i see no need to grind.
I don't see this negative though. I had countless hours of fun for the invested money and FD have a lot of stuff in the pipeline. I will just give it some time and play more once more content arrives. I am into elite dangerous for the long run.

Edit:
@mungy: Tons more fun then a T7. It has the cargo while being nimble. Large pads only though but that is a minor issue. I see no reason for the t9 besides being too lazy to rank up for empire. That or you don't like the empire - then you are out of luck. :D

I already love my clipper :D 238 tons of cargo and can dock in a minute or less :D

I'm afraid this is the first wall fellow cmdr. The grass is always greener.

The Clipper is well within reach for most pilots within a couple of weeks or so hard graft and is one of the most fun ships to fly of the heavier classes (IMO).

It could be all you need and want, there isn't much you can't do in it.

The Python is also a very nice ship, but for other reasons.
Conda also has its place.

You can take off to the far reaches, or you can do what has already been suggested.

You must find your own way through this difficult time, maybe set few goals well within reach with a few goals a little bit further away.

The bigger ships are well worth having, but they certainly aren't the be all and end all, (cmdrs who haven't got them) think they are.

Its a big wide universe out there, I hope you find your place in it.

Get out of the clipper and into a small ship. Do some combat and have fun, blowing up and getting blown up!!

So, missions are dull, mining is boring, exploration is boring, combat is repetitive. I'd say you were pretty stuffed whatever ship you were in.
On a more positive note, all the things you don't like doing are more fun in a clipper, so there's that.
