It was a bad move because PP ranks is a short term reward with no incetive to stay in a power for the duration.
Ranks should have been almost limitless making merit decay redundant
Say 100+ ranks instead of 5 with tiny rewards for each, rewarding patience and TIME instead of quick cash grabs
Ranks should not ensure a steady income, we are players, we should PLAY the game, not game the game
We should not get something for free, the ranks should be the carrot for further gameplay, not the END of gameplay
Ranks & time should apply bonuses in owned systems
Add a 1% bonus to mission payout for any mission done from an owned system for each rank - promoting factions under control by your PP faction.
Add the same bonus to any bounty in these systems
Add 1% to discount to modules and ships bought in controlled systems for each month affiliated
Add 1% for each rank to the weekly payout as a modifier
Whenever a player reach over 100% bonus the overshooting percentage goes as a bonus to the weekly payout
Linear Rank Payout
Rank payout should have been linear and not 10 times each rank.
Time Affiliated Should Be Rewarded
Each week affiliated with the faction acts as a multiplier to your rank income.
So lets say we get 10 credits per rank and weeks affiliated as a multiplier.
Yes, weekly earnings become crap because they should be.
A rank 125 with 52 weeks under his belt would gain:
12% reduction in ship costs and modules in owned systems
100% mission reward from missions in owned systems and bounties
125% increased weekly reward
+25% multiplier to the weekly reward (overshooting percentage from ranks not applicable to mission bonuses)
So he would earn a base 65000 credits with a +125% so that's 146250 X 1,25 = 182512,5 credits a week,
